Oh, my. Please forgive me. I was rather panicky when I posted, but as things turned out another member of my family needed to make a trip to the pharmacy and picked up my meds also. I have had plenty of time to think on this and next time I will be ready and able to tip anybody who might deliver to me. But enjoyed ever post and suggestion made.

I did an online grocery order with curbside pick up last week, and while the store does not allow the employees to accept tips, I gave the young women who loaded it an unworn fabric mask brought as a back up - she was so appreciative. If I could get my hands on appropriate fabric and elastic, I'd would make a stash to carry in the car to hand out.

You could always get the delivery person's name and send them a gift card for coffee or something

Big yes to tipping-and general appreciation to all delivery people! When my boss sends me the bottles of hand sanitizer swag, I want to give them to our post lady, UPS etc.

I'm agreeing with Fashintern here. Since the pandemic began, I have been phoning my local businesses to ask what is the best way to tip their delivery people since touching cash is a problem right now.

Several businesses have said "not necessary" and one has said, "Just stop by the store sometime when this is all over and cash is safe again."

There are lots of ways to show appreciation for the delivery people making our lives possible right now. Money is one but waving through a window is another. Asking if their employer is making them feel safe. Finding out their first names. Leaving them a thank you note. Make some mail art to brighten up the dreary job of a postal worker.

At this time, I would tip anyone who leaves their home to work in a job that directly benefits me as an individual. Ask at the pharmacy if you can put extra on your card to get cash back. You might be able to do more than the amount of the tip, so you’d have cash on hand.

I’m happy to see you again, and hope you are well!

Bridgie - my mum’s chair yoga class is getting ready to try Zoom-ing tomorrow... for the second time. Lol They think they’ve got it this time. I personally feel it’s a nail biter. Lol!

Phoebe and Racheylou, how interesting that I have had responses from one of the newest members and the other from one of the earliest members of this forum. Rachylou was the first to respond to my very first post!! Rachy, how is your mom doing?
Phoebe, you are a jewel. I enjoy your posts and looking forward to many more! Love the beautiful bird in your avatar.

No, no tipping. Pharmacy delivery/meds by mail are routine. Many companies push this actually. They’ll come from some central processing place.

If I had been at home since the middle of March I wouldn't leave home for this and I'm inclined to think the pharmacy wouldn't want you to either and that's why they're providing delivery.

I'm not sure a pharmacy could add a tip to the charge and I suppose you could ask but I most definitely wouldn't worry about it.

I hesitated to post this but I know I will feel better doing so.
In the past if I had any doubts if to tip or not tip, then i tipped and never gave it another thought.
I have received a text from my pharmacy, a major chain, that I have
two medications automatically refilled (which I requested some time back) and offering to deliver free of charge.
I have two separate refills and the cost is $18.00 for both. My question is, do I tip the delivering carrier and (sorry) what amount?
I have stayed at home since middle of March and I thought I would have to go to ATM and if I did that to get cash, I may as well go to pharmacy. And that thought still stands.
Bear with me, I am getting there. I always pay with card, credit or debit,so I guess I could put tip on it when I call pharmacy to pay and schedule delivery.
