Love your planning! I do this for both my young sons, ages 3 and 10 months. I love dressing them in coordinated outfits. I have been asked how I'm able to do it with all the stress of being a mom with young kids but I really enjoy it, I put together capsules for my kids too! Glad I'm not the only one.

purple8- I should note that even if they start out looking "styled", by the end of the day after multiple outfit changes, in and out of "naptime" PJs, potty accidents and the like, mine usually do too!

I'm impressed and ashamed. My intentions are good, but I'm not organized enough to plan good kid wardrobes. My preschoolers often look like feral hobos by the end of the day.

I definitely plan out my daughter's capsule wardrobe on a seasonal basis! It's especially handy when they get old enough to start picking their own clothes or if you have dads or other caretakers that dress them as well- if you buy only items with a coherent color scheme, they are much less likely to end up in a completely mismatched outfit.
In fact, I even have a cheat-sheet made up (by request of my husband) that can be used to help build outfits since my husband sometimes helps my daughter get ready for preschool.

Great fall capsule and style! My daughter had a jacket just like that as a toddler.

Fantastic capsule! And planning a boy's wardrobe sounds like fun.

My daughter was never into girly things so I didn't really experience that "frills and pink" thing at all. She likes clothes like your son's -- even now, at 14. :)

I really enjoy seeing my kids in their seasonal colors (12 season palette) - it lights them up so much. I'm willing to spend a little more and have fewer options to achieve that.

Well my boys are no longer little boys....but when they were younger I always dressed them stylishly, colour coordinated, Italian shoes, the lot. I loved them looking modern and wearing nice quality, natural fibre clothes. Now they are young men, and it is a long time since I've chosen their clothes without their input, but they have a very strong sense of style. Apart from sporting activities, they dress beautifully....chips off the old block. I love that they present well to the world and they know what is appropriate for each occasion. You have so many things to teach your young boy and this is just one part of his upbringing, but hopefully this will stay with him as it has for my guys.

Let me first apologize to those of you who may use yLf as a mini escape for yourself: a tiny piece of your day in which you can discuss all the wonderful things that the rest of your family perhaps has zero interest in (i.e, your children or spouse :)) But I'm posting on the subject of children's style, so indulge me for a moment :)

The weather here has been AWFUL. I admit it, I'm ready for colder weather. All those years that I worshipped summer are nothing but a memory for me. These horrendous days of sticky, sky-high temperatures can leave anytime now. Thinking about cooler weather always gets me excited to wear clothes made for it-I've always been partial to fall/winter style (boots, moto jackets, all things dark and rich, drapey sweaters with leggings, oh my!) so naturally, I've begun to think about my son's cooler weather wardrobe as well. Plus, he's SUCH a hot-natured little boy, so I know he'll be a happy little dude when the temperatures back off.

When I first learned I was having a boy, people assumed I'd be disappointed that I wouldn't have a little doll I could style and dress up, but in all actuality, it was the EXACT opposite. I simply LIVE for little boy style. The variety I find for him is phenomenal, and it's easy to mix his adorable preppy pieces with more of a street style. My husband's friends tell me that he's got the best style of any kid in our circle (my absolutely favorite compliment, by the way) and have even asked me where I've found certain things and if they come in adult sizes The best part is that I think my little one knows how much his mom loves being his stylist, so he struts his stuff like a BabyGap model. Of course, I don't deck him out EVERY day-the fact that he's a boy AND only beginning the toddler stage makes for many messy situations! But if we're steppin' out, then so shall he..darn it! Ha!

My mother and I have started building his 'Fall Capsule' (yes, we use yLf terms for him, too!) and wanted to share a few pieces with all of you.

I'd love to know if any of you fabulous ladies find great joy in styling your little ones like I do. There's a chance I'm creating a monster, but deep down I'd LOVE if he still valued his mother's opinions on fashion when he's grown.

1.) My mom ordered him these Polo sneakers in gray canvas for fall. From the time he was born I've smothered him in Polo (you'll see it continue in the pictures), both because its classic, high quality and can be worn a little more street when paired with the right pieces, or in all its prep school glory.
2.) Everyone loves him in blue. And a button-up (I'm sure most of you would call them button downs, I'm not sure why I've always been opposite).
3.) These Levi 501's are actually from last year but they are PERFECTION. A little baggy, a little distressed, and hit his sneakers perfectly when worn cuffed. I'll soon be searching for more jeans. He and his mom both share denim as closet staples. 4.) Another blue Polo top, but with a much more casual feel. Paired with sneakers and maybe a hoodie, it feels cool and casual and easy. 5.) The last picture is a recent find online from BabyGap. I'm OBSESSED. There's no piece more 'me' than a moto jacket, and finding this WICKED mixed media option for him was a serious discovery. I hope to order it for him soon; just imagine with a skinnier jean, thermal and a beanie?! I'm squealing just thinking about it

http://m.gap.com/product.html?.....=gc1016108

Thanks for indulging me, ladies! It just goes to show that I love for fashion can be used in oh so many ways!
