I hope the retail situation is more interesting in the US.</p> <p>I added some Birkenstock EVAs (for wearing around the house and to the beach), a white and silver wedge and some boots. I did not wear the boots in summer but bought because I love white boots and can wear them now. Nothing dressy or OTT, which a lot of the trends sure seem to be (you won’t see me wearing fuzzy shoes any time soon!)</p> <p>Jenni, the color that would fit most seamlessly into my wardrobe for summer would be blue, with teal a second. I have those teal slides from a few years ago that don’t get a lot of wear (they are not very comfortable for all-day wear, sadly). The blue I have in my finds — the blue flip-flops — are very casual and don’t get worn much outside of home or a quick errand. They don’t feel super stylish to me. </p> <p>Part of me thinks that I’d enjoy another neutral pair even more than a color, if it’s really distinctive and speaks to me! I get the most long-term wear out of styles that transcend trend and really feel like my thing. </p> <p>Below are some pics of styles and colors that have grabbed my eye. Some like the orange would likely not get a ton of wear, but they have a certain appeal to me. However, at this phase of my life I don’t want to collect more shoes that don’t get used very often. A bit of versatility balanced with personality is what I’m after, I think. I’m just thinking this through as I’m writing so hopefully it makes sense! </p> <p>I’m drawn in particular to an interesting detailed or sculptural heel, especially if it’s a comfortable one like a block or wedge style. Since I don’t have much opportunity to add anything extra to summer outfits via my usual jackets or scarves, I rely on footwear to add an extra bit of modernity or edge to my outfits. </p> <p>My collection is in Finds below. I’m happy with most of them. Some are pretty much house/pool shoes (the Tsonga flip flops), and I’m not super into the Pikolonos anymore, but otherwise, I anticipate wearing the rest. All of these are in pretty good to excellent shape, even the very old but truly beloved LD Tuttles, which I will probably never let go! </p> <p>I’d moved away from metallics in the last year or so, wearing the white fisherman sandals a LOT last year, but I know metallics are trending so I’d consider embracing that again. </p> <p>What looks super modern this year, and what am I lacking here, if anything? So far I haven’t been blown away by anything I’ve seen at retail, but it’s early. Honestly the styles don’t seem a huge departure from last year. Are the fisherman sandals still looking fresh? It occurs to me that there is very little color here, but my colors haven’t exactly been trending. </p> <p>Thoughts? </p>
