Synne, you’re spot on. I should get with the times and try a pullover sweater with a dress, and that hoodie is just this shape.

What happened to the hemp-looking off-white boxy cardi you showed in a WIW some weeks ago? Now THAT was stylish cardigan!! Spot on.
Edit: or was it a sweater? Either way, the vibe and feel is the exact same as the new trendy style.

Style Fan, what a great pic, with your outfit reflecting the shades around you. I do have a couple pairs of pants that reach my belly button, will have to pull them out & give them a try.

Cat2, you’ve just reminded me to wear the jacket in the finds, which is stiff denim.

Angie, “refreshing” mornings and evenings do indeed call for a little sweater.

LaPed, you look good. That’s a classic shape that hasn’t come up; I’ll have to give it a try too.

I wear mine with almost anything — dresses, skirts, jeans, trousers, tucked tees, untucked woven shirts...

Today, volume over volume: open over a merino tank and linen skirt. Til it got too hot and it went into my backpack.

FashIntern, if it's short enough, it could look cute over your dresses. Always chilly in Western Europe in the morning, and late at night.

I wear my boxy wool cardigan with high-waisted bottoms, like in the picture. I have ordered the cotton cardigan in Finds, and I like how the model has semi-tucked the cardigan into jeans. I plan to try that.

If I was going to play dress up in your closet, I think I would pair the green dress with a structured denim vest or jacket, wear the rompers with your existing short cardi, and wear your pants with a long sheer cardigan, like one of the summer weight linens or an open knit.

Rachylou, that sounds like a transitional season outfit to me :)

Cat2, I love bias-cut skirts & dresses, don’t think I have any at the moment.

I said on the blog post that I don’t wear boxy crop cardigans - but I DO wear boxy crop pull-overs and I love those. I wear them almost exclusively with high waist jeans. Sometimes a skirt. I’m contemplating wearing one with a slip dress I have, but it’s gotta be hot enough for the dress and cold enough for the sweater!

Yes, regular woven pants fabric but cut in a jogger shape. I think they would also work with cargoes if they are slim. I don’t think I would pair these sweaters with bottoms with a lot of volume— so no culottes or skirts with volume at the waist, as the combined volume would be too much. I do have a bias cut skirt with a slim waist that would likely work, as would other slim skirts.

Ha re: archaeological dating! Sounds like my mom :)
I don't like buttons on cardis, but I have short ones. I just wear them over dresses (generally sheath) or tops/pencil skirts, though did in cooler weather with joggers this year.

Thanks Linda. I’m thinking of getting another cropped cardi, this one a bit chunkier/boxier than the thin, close-fit one in the pic, and wearing it with the same dress.

Cat2, you mean woven fabric joggers?

CS, you and i will be experimenting together. Sounds like your ideas are similar to mine. Cute leopard spots!

Helena, good point about the Tee-Shirt dress being perhaps too simple to do well with a simple cropped cardi.

I usually wear this one with a denim shirt. I am gling to have to try these (I have two) in new ways, such as open over a dress or tank.

Well, as per my other post, I don't :D

BUT the couple of times I have worn it, it's pretty casual ... buttoned up over a tank and jeans, with the sleeves pushed up. I do prefer the style over more structured or fitted pieces for balance; if I was applying my preference to your wardrobe, I might choose a different piece over the tee dress, like a denim jacket, to add structure and wear the lantern sleeve over the other pieces - but of course, that's a matter of personal preference!

With relaxed things: a couple of pairs of fabric pants cut like joggers and a couple of midi length narrow knit skirts (not tube skirts but with a similar narrow profile).

Im thinking about what to wear with a cropped chunky or boxy cardi like in Angie’s blog post today.

I’ve had this pink cardi with lantern sleeves in Finds for a while, and a cream-colored one at Zalando about as long. Using archeological dating, looking at the layer these are in, I’d say I started thinking about a short, chunky cardi 2 years ago.

Those two are no longer available, but now that stores here are starting to open up, it might be time to go shopping for one, to go with these things (the blue/white top is part of a 2-piece dress with a slim wrap skirt), pinstriped & flare jeans, and my orchid/lavender/or-is-it-lilac pants, which are slim fitting except for the front pleats.

Do you have this kind of cardi? What shapes do you pair it with? Please show me.

Thanks for reading and for any thoughts & images you share
