I usually layer a top like #1 with a cardigan in the fall. The fuller neckline is too much for me in the heat. I like the pants in #1 better than in #2, perhaps because there is more drape to them?

I think both are classics and if you wear them you should keep them. But if you find keeping them makes your brain feel draggy, them pass on.

You look beautiful in both. I think the newer crops might be more tapered, but these look classic to me. If you were purchasing them now, I might suggest trying one size up, but, as there is only the slightest pull across the front, I wouldn't retire the pants for this. My guess is that by the end of the day they've "given" a bit, and the sitting wrinkles have joined the party anyway!

I hear you on the cowl --- beautiful, but impractical, as in so many lovely garments!

I adore your shoes! Let us know how your project is coming along!

That shade of gray looks wonderful on you but I agree on the seasonal confusion. And large cowls come and go; haven't noticed them in awhile (?)

The crops look a tad tight, maybe, but wearable. Try rolling them up? If you don't feel fab in them, perhaps it's time to say goodbye!

I like the sweater on you, but agree on the seasonal confusion. The pants are a nice colour but maybe earmark them for replacement when you go back to shopping.

I love the top in #1. It would totally work in my climate - and I think the color is beautiful on you! I think it looks much more elegant than the 2nd top - but then, I don't know if you're going for "elegant!" The pants look a little tight to me - I know that I would not be able to wear them in the heat! I think if I were you that I would start looking for a different pair that has a bit more room around the hips and also doesn't quite flare out so much at the bottom.

I like the crops. I'd maybe hang on to them for awhile longer, deliberately wearing them and see if they "come back to life" for you.

I also really do like #1, but have some tops of my own like that and have no idea how I got them or when I was thinking of wearing them. If it's cold enough for a turtle/cowl neck, I tend to want sleeves too...

Haha seasonally confused is the right description. It's just that collar is so big. I have worn this top in winter over a gray and white striped long sleeved tee. I think I'll save it for cooler weather. I still can't bring myself to get rid of the crops, but they are on notice for not holding their weight in making me feel fabulous.

Thanks for the nice welcomes back. :-) I've missed posting on here.

I agree #1 is seasonally confused. Not sure where or when you would need such a heavy sweater without sleeves.

I really like #2.

The crops look fine to my eye, but a touch of tapering would make them more current.

It's so nice to see you again, JennyAnne!
I love the first outfit, too! That one's worth bringing out again when the weather's a little cooler. Sometimes I find I can wear something like that in the evening when it's too hot during the day. That shade of blue and white looks STUNNING on you!

The cropped pants don't look bad. As Textstyle says you could taper them a little if you want to make them a little more current.
Great sandals!

I agree with Suz - sleeveless sweaters just don't make logical sense to me. Short sleeved sweaters are not much better to me unless they are light weight or elbow sleeve or something. The pants could be tapered at the bottom to be more current. The colors are great all around on you and the sandals are great.

Great to see you, JennyAnne, and you are looking so pretty in this soft palette!

I LOVE outfit #1 on you! But yes, much too hot, I am certain. In some weather it would work, but it's a bit seasonally confused seeming for my neck of the woods. Unless worn with a topper. If it is cool enough for a sweater, a person wants sleeves.

The pants look fine, but if they feel less than fab, say goodbye to them!

Good luck with your year long pledge, and love your sandals!

Hi! I've been away a long time, but I find myself in need of advice lately), so I'm back. :-)

I've made a personal pledge to not buy any new clothes for a year, starting June 1, and so far it hasn't been difficult at all. I was purchasing things for all the wrong reasons. Shoes and undergarments are still ok to buy (but interestestingly, I haven't bought any!), but there is nothing else that I could conceivably NEED in the next year.

I put on top #1 this morning and had to change because it was just too much in the heat. I'm wondering whether that collar is just too much fabric, regardless of the weather, though. What do you think?

My second question is the cropped pants. I've had these for years. I don't mind cropped pants - leg lengthening is not a figure flattery priority for me, but I wonder if these are just past their prime - too tight in the hips, too loose in the ankle. What do you think?

Thanks for the help!
