I love Tim Gunn, miss his show and love his book A Guide to Quality Taste & Style. He has a new book out that is on my Christmas wish list.
MNSara, the sweatsuit alternative. If you are sick of seeing way too many people wear sweats for everything, you would enjoy what Tim has to say about it in his book. The alternative is all about something comfy and is one of his 10 wardrobe basics. My favorite quote about sweatsuits is "Many a woman is walking around New York City right now with no idea that her pants not only reveal the shape of her bottom, but the shape her bottom is in."
Tim rocks!

Love it - Late Bloomer! I too scoffed at the trenchcoat suggestion, living in So. CAL and a fairly casual life-style - I thought "no way!" Well, now I own 2! A classic black - and a beautiful berry! Love them both - and wear them with EVERYthing in the winter time!

I was really disappointed that they stopped doing Tim Gunn's show too. It seems a show with a little class and graciousness just doesn't bring in the viewers .I enjoy the extremes and humor of WNTW but I could relate a lot more to the women in the Tim Gunn show and really appreciated his advice.

I have his book too and at first I scoffed at some of the items in his list. I just knew I would never wear a trench coat in southern Arizona. Well...

Mac - I think Veronica Webb only lasted the first season - she was then replaced by Gretchen someone - why CAN'T I think of her last name???? Anyway, Gretchen was a delight - a perfect compliment to Tim.

I like Tim Gunn and his encouraging, warm nature. But I really didn't like his TV show. And the woman who co-starred, at least in some episodes - Veronica Webb - had all the on-screen charisma of a plate of tuna.

Tim Gunn is a class act. I just adore him. I really hope he quits Project Runway and moves on to a new act that is more worthy of his wisdom.

I only saw this show a few times but enjoyed it. I liked how the women weren't all just fashion disasters. They were normal people who just needed a little help--which is probably more representative of the majority.

One of my coworkers used to live in the same neighborhood as Tim (how he could afford it on our salary eludes me, but anyway...), and he said Tim is exactly as he appears on TV: Gracious, kind, warm, and articulate. And always in a suit and tie.

I adore Tim Gunn, but have no cable television Someone (leahjanes?) needs to enlighten me about his "sweats alternative" requirement. It sounds like something I'd like to enforce on my entire state's population. . .

I liked it, too! I especially liked how he'd give each woman a really special unique-to-her gift at the end of each episode! It made me all misty!

I think I only saw that maybe twice but did like it. The only part I couldn't relate to was the checklist of needs for every wardrobe. I think I saw recently that he's adjusted that slightly. But, yeah, a really good show that I wish we had more of. He seemed to respect each person's individuality in the fashion makeover process. And who wouldn't want a computerized body double to solve your proportion issues?!

I watched and enjoyed it. I wondered why it didn't come back for another season. I haven't read anything about it's disappearance one way or another. The fact that they had some women who already had lots of nice clothes but didn't know how to make it all work made it much more of a challenge than WNTW.

Whatever happened to 'Tim Gunn's Guide to Style?' I haven't seen it in a couple of years - did it just not get renewed? That show was a little more upscale than WNTW - the featured people on the show were not quite as bad as WNTW - and so it didn't sink into as much as a circusy reality show feel as WNTW. I liked it because they would do that 3-D body scan to determine your body type and proportion. Also loved it because they had a designer on each week specifically chosen for the client that week. It was soooo fun! Tim's co-host was Gretchen someone (can't remember her last name - but she looked a lot like Stacy!) Did anyone else watch it?
