I got my Aqua sweater dress today - it fits perfectly, just as I suspected! Can't wait to wear it!

Anyway, I'm posting here because when I first tried it on, the cashmere stuck like crazy to my jeans, and then to my bare legs when I took off my jeans. I was worried... because no way could I wear it out like that.

So I popped on my VS silk negligee underneath it and sure enough... that stopped the static cling in its tracks. So definetly do give that a try! I don't know if it *has* to be 100% silk, experiment and let me know what you discover.

My dress does ride up sometimes - but just a little, every so often, and nothing that drives me crazy. I think there are a few reasons it doesn't ride up much:

1) The knit is a blend. Not sure what it is, but it's not cashmere. I suspect cashmere clings like crazy (I'll find out when my new sweater dress arrives!!!).

2) The knit of the dress is fairly heavy, so the weight holds it down and keeps it in place. Cashmere is lighter so there's nothing to hold it down, does that make sense? And I have that one tunic that does ride up a fair amount ... it's not cashmere but it is a lightweight knit.

2) I wear a full-length 100% silk slip under it. It's actually a Victoria's Secret negligee, but it's nearly as long as the dress. It may be the 100% silk that makes the difference - a synthetic slip is going to cling a lot more, I think. Also having it nearly the same length helps too. (The negilgee I have has a pretty black lace edging, so if a bit of it peaks out, who cares).

3) As Ana says, that sweater dress (and the new one coming any day now) falls from the waist. It's got a seam at the waist, and few pleats. It's not form-fitting but roomy.

I'll let you know if the new dress clings a lot - it might. I did notice when I tried on the larger size, and a bunch of other Aqua cashmere dresses, that they all had a tendency to cling a lot, even over jeans. I suspect it's the lightweight cashmere that's the culprit. I'm hoping my VS silk negilgee will be enough to combat this.

You can also rub Bounce sheets over your tights to control cling - safer for the environment than using the aerosole spray stuff.

Hi guys, I had the same problem at first. I haven't tried static guard, but my boyfriend suggested I spray Downy wrinkle release thoroughly around the top of my tights and also on the inside bottom of the (in my case) sweater dress. I'm not sure why... but it works perfectly for me. Hope this helps!

I used to have this issue with skirts, but then I started buying them so they sit at the waist. It wasn't as big of an issue after that, I only had to make the occasional adjustment. I've never really had that issue with dresses, other than static, and anti-static spray helps with that.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one! I agree that it is much worse when walking uphill or going up the stairs. Kyle - I was just looking at your pictures with the denim skirt and tights and wondering if you had the same problem. Did it bother you in that outfit you posted? You look absolutely wonderful in the skirt by the way. I'm going to have to try some anti-static spray and see if that helps.

This was one of the first questions I ever asked on YLF, if memory serves. I still have not cracked the code. Slips don't really solve the problem. And it's worse if you have a cotton-y fabric against the tights. Fingers crossed that someone has a secret tip for us.

This actually happens to me too, especially when walking uphill. It's very annoying!

Thanks Angie - I will give that a try. I don't seem to have the same problem with regular pantyhose - just tights. I didn't know if I should be looking for a special material when buying tights. I saw Antje's cute outfit with the tights and denim skirt and Shiny's sweater dress outfit and wondered if anyone else had this problem. I feel like I'm pulling at my dress all day because it rides up my legs.

Hi everyone - I have a question about how to wear tights and a skirt or dress that is unlined. I have such a problem with the dress catching on the tights and then riding up. I feel like I'm pulling the skirt or dress down all day and it is very annoying. I have tried a slip, but that doesn't seem to help. Does anyone have any tips to prevent the skirt or dress from catching and riding up? Are some tights better than others or better slips? Does this happen to anyone else?
Thanks!
