Ya know, I was thinking about the Dirty Dancing associations, etc. and realized the difference in the modern versions I’m seeing is that they are not tied up high on the midriff a la Daisy Duke. They are looser and easier and not necessarily meant to show skin. But they do provide a little structure and a slight bit of sexiness to a looser shirt style for summer. That’s why they work for me.

I quite like tie front tops. For me they work like a tucked top without actually tucking.

Go for it! I can see you in the red. I got the one in the finds- wasn’t sure if I’d like the tie front, but it’s been a fun change in silhouette.

I really like tie front tops and have been trying many and buying a few this summer. Petite sizing is even more important for me in this style. Also, a lot of these unfortunately don’t have shoulder seams...harder to find those.

I also like tying the front of button down blouses, and have been looking for these as well both at retail and used/vintage.

I have one of these tie front tops and apart from it being a size too big (oh well) , I'm pretty happy with it and may duplicate the style . It's more forgiving on me than a plain fitted cropped top, yet provides the same function , if you know what I mean. I like this one you posted - might order it myself.

I like these for the same reasons as Janet. I got a few of them recently since now seems to be a good time to stock up. I guess their availability is a natural consequence of all the high rises out there now. I expect them to help with my problems pairing tops with full skirts (which are often very high waisted on me).

I love that red top and am tempted to try it myself, but I think I’m set for summer tops. I bet that would look fab with your new white shorts.

I actually find a gently fitted, not too tight and not too voluminous tie-front top quite workable for my short torso and big hips. If it’s not tied too tight and just skims the waist, it’s easy enough to sort of adjust where it ends. Much easier than a crop top in my experience (since crops tend to ride up and expose too much).

I've been thinking about those tie-front shirts too. I need to try some on to make sure they work though. I've tried tying regular shirts and it never looks quite right to me so I'm hoping that something made specifically to tie will look better.

I like tie hem shirts for summer. Nice for when you don't want to tuck in all the way, and look much better than a sloppy, no-tuck look.

Like BJ, I tried some of these recently and had a lot of trouble with the tie being in the wrong place for my short waist and big hips. I remember back in the day we used to just tie the ends of regular button downs. More bulky but a lot easier to adjust.

I think you'd rock clear red too! Wore a side tie top today, and they're kinda fussy. They puff up over the tie and change position when sitting-standing.

I like these in concept but struggle with getting the tie right at my short waist or getting the fabrication /print combo that I want. I’ll admire them on you.

Btw, I see you in a clear red lippie so no surprise that you’d look great wearing that color elsewhere

So I know Angie posted about these a while back. I’ve seen them in stores & online, but I was always kinda em. Memories of Dirty Dancing in the 80’s and the fashion trends it inspired.
But yesterday I was running errands with Dad (more like ambling, and trying to keep him on track. I got a sympathetic comment from a woman in the grocery store)
Anyways I saw this woman who was wearing a shirt sleeve tie front shirt. I can’t remember the colors, but it wasn’t pale, high rise skinny jeans & bright blue & orange New Balance sneakers (which kinda clashed with the shirt in a good way)
The summer is expected to be way hotter than normal. So thinking of expanding top options. And bottom options, and dresses
I saw many women at the Farmer’s market in dresses. Not as much athleisure wear as I expected. Though it was a Sunday & maybe they were brunching too
I saw many heeled clog sandals too which I really liked. But I need to realize I have trouble with those kind of stiff shoes as my ankles tend to roll & I “fall” off them
So I saw this shirt online ( no find as I’m on my phone)
https://m.shop.nordstrom.com/s.....e%20stripe

I love red lipstick, but rarely wear the color it self
Though Saturday I wore a red & white striped one sleeve tee with the pink gap cropped chinos & did get a compliment
