There are a lot of these types of shirts in th UK at the moment in the shops. Of the shops with US availability, Top Shop have some. I could be wrong about the store but I really think that's where I saw it. I agree with you on the colors they are not my first choice for a shirt that is definitely more of a summer shirt. I'd like a short sleeve or sleeveless version for summer to wear with shorts and they would also make good skirt tops, but I can't find any at the right price point (under $50).
