Oh how fun! I am now a sucker for TBTs. I still like fun tees. I had a pair of palazzo pants in the late 90s -- they were vintage and printed with a paisley pattern, and I wore them to a Christmas party with the guy I was dating where we shared our first kiss. I'm now married to him.

I don't want to threadjack, but wouldn't it be fun to do a fashion TBT thread here on Thursdays? I'll start a new thread to see if everyone would be into it.

Ha, Jenny! I think I've forgotten plenty of things I wore then, too, which is probably merciful.

And I think the tee definitely added at least a few IQ points!

Aubergine, based on what you say, perhaps the biggest surprise is that I had completely forgotten the palazzo pants trend from the 90's. Aren't we too young for memory loss?!

It's so fun to hear your take on what you wore during the same time frame. I bet you felt smart in that Harvard tee!

You look so cute in both pictures! I think I must be about the exact same age as you, so these looks also seem really familiar.

I had kind of similar-looking flowered palazzo pants I wore in high school and to summer jobs in college. I think remembering those has actually made me kind of hesitant to try wide-legged pants now that there are a bunch of current versions, because I'm afraid they'd just feel dated and not different enough from then to me.

And college me would have thought the gas mask bag and t-shirt were the coolest things ever! I loved weird t-shirts. Two of my favorites were one that came from the Hard Rock Cafe in Leningrad and an old Harvard t-shirt that I got from a thrift shop for 50 cents (mostly because I liked having people ask if I went to Harvard, so I could tell them that story instead).

A few months ago, I pinned this on Pinterest. I loved the fitted, vintage-nod fitted jacket over the long flowy bottoms. I imagined recreating this silhouette myself with a pair of flowy super wide pants.

I was just looking through my old photos and was surprised to find this photo of me from my senior year of high school (taken in 1995 or 1996). Here I am, wearing similarly flowy bottoms with a fitted jacket I scored at a vintage shop. The similarity here is quite surprising to me as nearly 20 years have passed and I would have thought my style preferences had changed more by now.

Bonus photo, here's another photo from maybe a year later. This was my look throughout the late 90's. How I loved carrying that gas mask bag instead of a purse, wearing odd tees such as this one (an election tee from Yucatan, Mexico that says the candidate "Is The Man"). I really was embracing RATE back then, while my style now is Much.More.Feminine. This was more like what I remembered-- demonstrating how my style preferences have changed.
