Gorgeous skirts on you! I love the advanced pattern mixing with the stripes and chevron. What a nice set of outfits you styled! I sure wish we had quality thrift stores in Boise. If they exist, I sure don't know where they are.

Thanks so much for sharing your comments. You always give me such great feedback on what works well and not so well! I’m excited for warmer weather to come so I can break out the summer clothes : )
@Deborah: I totally agree with your tucking/untucking advice! When it gets hot though, anything goes : ) I would love to thrift in your neck of the woods--I haven’t seen anything remotely vintage in either of the stores I visited.
@Rae: I think it was beginner’s luck. If anything, I tried to be MORE picky than when I shop retail (mostly because I didn’t want to have to come back to return anything.) The tuxedo blouse and the M&S tunic look to be unworn!
@lyn: I think you are right. It seemed easier to style than the A-line.
@MandipaM: Thanks for the skirt love : ) Looks like you and I are the only one who appreciate stripes over chevron : )
@sarah: No volume over volume for me? LOL. The jacket is very fitted--I think the optic white is making it look bigger than it is. I’ll make sure to pair it with more fitted bottoms though. Thanks for pointing that out. I LOVE Antje’s vest looks and had meant to try it over a button down with the tails hanging out. Thanks for reminding me.
@Emily: Thanks! I thought the scarf would be fun to play with. Worst case, it will be tied to my handbag : )
@Rita: LOL--I haven’t shopped kids’s since I was a kid! I love the colors so I’m going to wear it regardless. About the A-line, I’m not sure I can tuck the tank. I think it looks better IRL but I’ll have to see what DD’s say when it’s actually warm enough to wear this.
@Teri, SaraL, TShannon, Helen, MaryK and Marianna: Thank you! I’ve had my fun and I’m good for awhile : )
@Claire: Thank you! You are so right about testing out new skirt shapes. That’s exactly what I had in mind. I had been looking around for some different silhouettes but didn’t want to pay full price for something that might not get much wear. Thrifting was the perfect solution and they are cotton to boot! Oh, and chambray! That’s brilliant. I was thinking about my white button down but chambray would be much lower contrast. Love that idea!

It's so interesting that some Missoni for Target pieces are already trickling into thrift stores! Looks like people lose interest fast. What a score for you though --- it fits so well and looks amazing!

Kelly I am SO excited for you! Woo-hoo! You made a fabulous haul and I love it all! That's the way I like to try a new shape in skirts (5 bucks a pop). I bought two A-line/full skirts in January and I wasn't sure the silhouette was *me* but I can tell you they will be so cool and comfortable during a hot summer.

I was just thinking about the orange striped top with the coral jean jacket you scored last time? Love that black and white skirt on you! The scarf is To. Die. For. The Missoni vest would be fab with a chambray shirt underneath.

All of your pairings work for me, and you will have such fun playing and discovering more. I can't wait to see the rest of your loot!

Great finds! I like to thrift too but don't go very often. Once I get my 'fix', I'm good for several months. I think the two skirts are both great. The scarf looks like a good addition for the summer months, and the vest will look really cute layered over a button down shirt.

Wow, these re all lovely!! What great finds!! Who cares if the vest is from the kids' section. I have a bunch of stuff from the kids' section. I try to stay away but sometimes they fit me better because I am small. Not sure about the orange stripes with the striped skirt. Can you try tucking? I just don't like the bunching at the waist, although it may look fine IRL.

Way to go, Kelly! I really like the first skirt with the belted denim blouse, followed by the first combo. I'm not sure about it paired with the striped tank. The second skirt is so cute! I like it with the bare arms and the coral cardi, I think because the white jacket has a bit too much volume in the sleeves for that very voluminous skirt! Love the scarf and vest - well done! I'd love to see that vest over a button down - have you noticed how Antje wears vests constantly with button downs and pencil skirts? You might try that combo, too.

The Mossimo skirt is devine and I prefer it with the top untucked and the waistband not showing. The white jacket is lovely.

Thanks, Fashionista and AJ! I think I'm good on thrifting for awhile. While it is fun, it takes more effort than I'm used to--besides, I've got my bases covered for spring and summer now : ) Glad you like the skirts! I've been wanting to try some different style skirts for summer and these are great low investment options! $10 bucks for 2 skirts is pretty hard to beat!
@AJ: I'm not sure about the tank pairing either. I'm on the fence. I think the Missoni vest was a children's item--thought I could wear it with skirts or over a button down.

Ah yes, the successful thrift excursions keep you coming back for more! LOL! Looks like you found a store that has great stuff!

1) The denim jacket and chevron skirt are FAB. I like the orange striped tank, but not sure about pairing it with the skirt.

2) The Mossimo skirt is squee-lishous!!

3) The scarf is so pretty! I can see that with the chevron skirt. Also with the orange striped tank and white clams/shorts/jeans.

4) That XL vest must have been a girl's size. Yay? : )

I'm not sure about the vest, so I'll leave that up to others. Such fun and pretty items. SCORE!

Those skirts are to die for esp the second one. Lovely scarfs. I don't see the vest as kids item by any angle. They are ok. But if you feel it a big cropped or short, try layering with some black or basic color tank top. It is fabulous and colorful.

I thought I'd share the other items that I ended up thrifting after returning the mushroom jacket. I'm surprised that I managed to find what I was looking for (and a couple things I wasn't looking for) so easily. Now that I've experienced the thrill of the find, I can see how thrifting can be addicting--and I can also see how easy it is to pick up things just because they are a great deal.

So what did I end up getting? I'm pleased as punch that I was able to pick up two skirts--one A line (Loft) and one drop waist pleated skirt (Mossimo) for summer. My summer skirt capsule was lacking and these two give me some more warm weather options. I also bought two unlined cotton jackets--one white (Gap) and one tan (JCrew.)

A couple of things were not on my list but I ended up getting them anyway--a Target vest from the Missoni collection, a white silk floral scarf (Timothy Fowler,) a black silk INC tuxedo blouse and a Marks & Spenser pinstripe tunic top. I'm not sure I needed any of these but I couldn't resist. I'll post these as WIW's at some point : )

I had a lot of fun sifting through the racks. It truly is like a treasure hunt. I can definitely see myself checking out the local thrift store on occasion and highly recommend non thrifters to give it a go.

1: ) Loft Skirt, (yay or nay on the striped orange tank pairing?)
2.) Mossimo skirt, White Gap jacket
3.) Timothy Fowler silk scarf (DCO but I laundered by hand just fine.)
4.) Missoni for Target vest,XL. Was this a kid's item by any chance?

Thanks for looking. Comments, good and bad, welcome!
