Angie - *happily collects killer rating* I'm delighted that I was able to thrift these work dresses. Thrifting is certainly helping me build my dress capsule easily. And indeed, in airports everyone looks ready for naptime. I prefer when people used travel dressed up a little more than in PJs, but I know times has changed and the travel outfits reflect that. Even my own travel outfits are much more casual than what I used to wear.

Looking elegantly '90s and super cute in outfit #1! LOVE that you traveled in this, and that it worked out. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

KILLER fab in your blues and oranges in outfit #2! Another '90s vibe that you wear well.

The toppers are a seamless match with the frocks!

Lots of pyjama pants and pillows at the airport too, these days......

cat2 - A shirt dress is a great idea, thanks for the suggestion!

Lise - A blazer is not a requirement for work, but it is my personal preference. I will also wear jackets, but I'm not reaching for cardigans as much as I used to. I don't have many blazers (or jackets) for work at the moment (my work capsule is small since I WFH) but I'll keep a lighter colored blazer in mind! Thanks for the suggestion!

Mirjana and kkards - Thanks for the kind words and for looking!

Roberta - You made a great point, bending over may be why I prefer the longer dress over the shorter one. There's less to worry about as you move around in a longer dress. Thanks for the insight!

lyn67 - Thanks for the kind words and for looking!

Jaime - I'm delighted to have two work dresses that are easy to pack and travel well. Thanks for looking!

Love, love the rich blue against the orange print! I also wear shorter shorts and still like a longer dress. I think it's the "bending over" issue. And I really don't miss those over-air conditioned offices!

The 1st dress takes me back to my early days in the workforce. Brights and kind preppy but in a subtle way. Retro but modern and fresh! Well done

Love the Tommy H dress. Love the pattern, colours and cut. To my eye it has a cool 60s vibe. Maybe you can overcome the bare leg thing by wearing it with navy stockings when it is cooler. I think it is a professional length, though I realise you must feel 100 percent in your comfort zone for work. I can see this dress working casually too with flat sandals. Love both your heeled sandals btw.

I would like to see the pretty pink dress with a neutral coloured blazer. Or maybe a light blue. I tried to see what other blazers you have in your finds without success. You know I love contrast. Does the topper have to be a blazer for work? I love the unusual round zip puller on the dress.

Great prints. In your trial and error, if you haven’t already, you might keep an eye out for a shirt dress. It’s easy to find them midi length, they are fun to belt, and they often are fabricated in stripes or plaids that are very work friendly.

Jenni NZ - I've noticed a fair amount of dresses at thrift stores recently. It's a perfect way for me to try different styles of dresses at wallet friendly prices. :)

Dee - Indeed, thrifting is perfect for me to try out new styles and build out my dress capsule. We have a few months of warm weather left for our summer season, which is perfect timing for building up my dress capsule. I don't see me sporting dresses in colder weather (my cold weather formula is usually jeans, boots, and sweaters) but I'm enjoying wearing dresses in warmer weather.

JAileen - I like the pink paisley dress a lot too. It's fun, happy colors. There was another bright floral colored dress in satin I may go back to the thrift store for over the weekend.

These are pretty dresses, lovely bold colours and patterns. I could see how the length and volume of the first dress would be comfortable enough to wear on a plane. I think thrifting is great way to sort out your dress style preferences.

Both outfits are fab! I am surprised at your buying 2 more dresses so soon after getting back on Team Dress, but good job!
I like both lengths on you. The unicorn heels are great, I don’t know that I have any left that high, would have to measure. (I still have a small number of high heels that I hardly wear but can’t bear to get rid of.)

Hello.

Now that I'm back on team dress, I've been working on expanding my dress collection, including for my work capsule.

The work capsule has very strict criteria. In the summer months I'm in heavy a/c so I wanted to make sure that the dresses can be layered with a cardigan or blazer. I'm also looking for materials that will pack easily, not take up a lot of room in a carryon bag, and do not wrinkle.

These two dresses were thrifted and they were excellent for a business trip to TX where it's even hotter than in NC right now! (The temperatures were 100F+ days!) They never wrinkled, and I could roll them in a ball and take up very little room in a carry on.

#1 to #3 - Pink Blazer, Pink Paisley Dress, and Unicorn Heels
I actually wore this outfit for the flight and stepped off the plane directly into meetings. It was a gamble for me to travel in a dress and heels, but I knew I had no time to change before my meeting. The long length of the dress was comfortable to fly in which surprised me because I normally travel in pants.

I definitely stood out in the airports. Everyone I saw was sporting athleisure or loungewear unless you were a fellow business traveler.

I call these my unicorn heels. These are the only heels I own that are over 3 inches (they are 3 1/4 and my preferred heel height is around 2 inches), but somehow I can wear them all day for work.

#4 to #6 - Cobalt, Blue, and Orange Shift
Another workday, another thrifted dress paired with a blazer. This dress is comfortable and also packs easily. I thought it was interesting that while I wear shorts and show off my legs all the time, I actually preferred the longer length of the dress in the first outfit than this one which ends around my knees. I think I'm starting to tease out what my dress style or formula is as I expand my dress wardrobe.

On the return flight I was able to travel in my new travel outfit. :)

Thanks for looking!
