I've done that with the much more inexpensive fleece blankets from Kohls and they feel so warm and comfy. I have a guilty secret. When I bought my robe that I adore so much, I also bought that exact same cardigan, ostensibly for one of my daughters. It sat in a Nordie's gift box for about a week, until I decided that I had to keep it for myself! It is the more "dressed up" version of the robe: perfect for days like today when I'm chilling out at home and wrapping presents. I'm wearing it over yoga pants and a tee, and figure I can answer the door in it if need be, while still wearing comfy loungewear.
