Since you are an expert sewist, you could maybe crop the pair in pic 4 and taper the thigh area yourself to see if you prefer them that way? I find I am limiting the wear of my 4-year old Kut Catherines to around the house. I thought mine were Axl, too, but they actually say "Rocco" inside, in "blue opal vintage." I think mine may be wider-legged than yours. I have four pairs of Emerson's in three different washes plus white, and rate them as an all time favourite jean. Mine are well in to their second year and still look the same.
