I also used to be too timid to try patterned pants. Then over the summer I found a pair of black and white plaid cropped trousers. I felt a little out of my comfort zone the first time, but they really are fun to wear and add a element to an outfit that a pattern top just can't. I do understand the hesitation with the price point, though. The JBrand runs a size small for me, but TTS for me in JBrand (figure = undefined waist, narrow hips, curvy butt and legs). But really expensive and the gold colorway, which I love the most, isn't flattering to my thighs.
