Thanks everyone. There are some good ideas here. I agree it probably isn't meant to be worn with a jacket but in practical terms to be a workhorse I think I'd want to be able to wear something on my arms sometimes with it.

I think I'll have to go back later this week wearing pants and taking a couple of different layers, maybe a long sleep top and a couple of jackets, with me and experiment a bit. Our winters are relatively mild here but I'm sure there would definitely be times I would want to have my arms covered. Might check if there is anything in store I could try with it too.

Firstly, it is gorgeous. Wish you hadn't shown me lol. I think it's designed to be worn without a jacket but you could layer under it.

A long sleeve top the weight and fabrication of the Metalicus Basics range would work well. Otherwise I do think some kind of cropped jacket could work over it. Alternately, a draped cardigan about the same length as the top/tunic could work.

I think a cropped jacket would be best, but agree no jacket is probably the look intended. Would be cool for gallery openings or similar events if you go to these sorts of things.

I love this piece....it is a little different and very cool.

I have a ponte dress that is sleeveless. I love the shape of it but do find the fabrication too warm for summer and quickly too cool for autumn. I do wear a jacket over the top but it is probably better without one. It is good for restaurant meals or dinner parties at home.

I love looks like this. Wow - this is very nice! If I were wearing this and standing in front of my closet trying to figure out a jacket , the first thing I'd try would be a fitted denim jacket, a fairly fitted leather moto, or something again shortish but flowy in the way of say a linen flowy cardigan. Short though. I'd wear this figuring that the jacket or topper would come off in the restaurant - so it's all about looking chic and cool on your entrance

Oh dear. That is frustrating. I wonder if Angie's post on wearing toppers with sleeveless dresses would have an answer.

Wait - I have an idea. What about a layer UNDER it? Slim long sleeved jersey tee either in same colour as tunic or a contrasting one (depending on your personal style/ taste).

It is a wonderful architectural look but doesn't look like the designer had a topper in mind. Would a cape or poncho work? It may add more assymetrical layers..

I think it looks great in principle but would need to see it in practice to say more.

Hi Team,

I was idly browsing the interwebs last night looking to see what new season's stuff is arriving (autumn for us Aussies) and this black ribbed tunic caught my eye.

Conveniently (or perhaps dangerously) there's a Country Road store near my work so I popped out at lunch to take a look and am intrigued.

The model must be amazingly tall because I'm about average height and on me it is knee-length. If it wasn't for the height of the wedge slit I could wear it as a dress. The wedge starts just where my thigh tapers in and it is very flattering on. Just glides over my hourglass shape and its thick enough to disguise any lumps and drapes beautifully. The rib texture lengthens the look.

I could really see this as a date night look over leggings, jeans or othet pants in late autumn/winter with boots or booties but I'm slightly thrown by no sleeves. It is a heavy ribbed knit in a nylon viscose so very warm.

What would you wear as a topper? Jacket to destination and then sleeveless? Layer something underneath? I'm really drawn to this piece but slightly stymied as to how to make it work in practice.

Thoughts?

*edited for rubbish spelling...
