Depends on the item and whether the belt/tie sits where I want it to or sometimes I just don't wear a belt/tie with the item so I cut then aswell.
I also cut of the stupid tloopshings which are meant to help things stay on hangers.

Snip unless needed to keep the belt from slipping when wearing one. I hang the belt on the hanger rather than leave it on the garment, either on the bottom crossbar or on a little hook that's on the hanger.

I keep them only if they are a) in the right place and b) I plan to wear the self-belt with the item. Realistically this means I usually end up chopping them off. I find that those types of loops are not sturdy enough to really use with my leather belts anyway.

I *have* also added belt loops to a couple of skirts, though (ones whose waist was too big and therefore sat too low, and whose fabric is too slippery for a belt to stay in place w/o belt loops). I just sewed little pieces of matching colored ribbon to the waist; you might want to consider this if you really need belt loops. Because the ribbon lies flat, I find it less annoying than the thread loops.

I leave them on and use them. I find they visually disappear easily if you put a different belt over them, etc. But if I knew I wasn't using it, snip snip!
I recently removed the silly little tie back sashes that come on some shirts and dresses. You know, the ones that start at the side waist seams and make a bow in the back? They remind me of little girl's clothes. Much better without!

Ooh, Janet, I hate those loops too and always cut them off.

I recently found that two pairs of my leggings had those loops sewn into the waistband. Huh? How (and why) could leggings be hung on a hanger so as to utilize those loops?

They're almost as annoying as those loops that are sewn into the armpits of many garments to help keep them on hangers! Since I use those "huggable" hangers that have some grip to them, I cut off those loops too.

I think I snip them off about 90% of the time. Usually it's because the item comes with a self-belt, and I often prefer to wear a different belt, which may be too wide or unwieldy for the loops. Plus they're often not at the spot where I'd prefer to belt the item, and I don't like the way they look.

I snip them off most of the time, because they often aren't as high as I like to wear my belt. And I'm not sure I like the look of a belt through them anyway. I keep my belts in a seperate part of my wardrobe and throw fabric belts over the clothes hanger, so I don't need them when I put the dress away.

I usually leave them on.

For me they keep the belt from wandering up and down while I move around. And when I put the dress etc. away, I cannot loose the belt, since it stays on the garment. If one of them loosens I actually sew them back on...

Not talking about a true belt loop here, but the ones that are just made of thread and are usually on a dress or jacket that has a self-belt (see below).

Do you treat those like something only meant to keep the belt with the item while it's in the store and snip them off? Or do you leave them on the garment?

I really hate the way they look and am tempted to snip, just wondering if I'll regret it. What sayeth YLF?
