I think many of us who live in temperate climates (i.e., places with cold summers!) either do this or we have loads of skimpy tanks which we can't wear; yours is certainly the better functioning of the two! I tend to require that ALL of my tops stand on their own summer or otherwise, but perhaps this works for me because my style certainly has a maximal element so I don't mind <i>also</i> using those pieces to layer with (with an interesting jacket usually, heh).
