Xtabay : yes, I have a tailor, this year he's replaced my old coat lining, narrow a vintage shirt that was one size too big and I will ask him to turn a tunic into a shirt when he's back from holidays...to give you examples of the kind of stuff I have done. Mostly, things fit from the rack.

Bonnie : thanks, shorts are the most comfy solution I've found for hot summer weekends.

Vicky - just kidding - Vicki :

It's the timer that do me in with selfies, those ten seconds I stand by my ugly heater...that's when I put my hands in my pockets or behind my back because I don't know what to do with them, lol.

It's more the other way around actually : I use my layering cold weather shirts as summer tops.

Yes, the majority of my coats/jackets are navy, I like the military vibe I suppose.
The jacket worn with the kimono is made of cotton, so not heavy, it's black, maybe that's why it looks heavier.
I tend to mix and match jackets and shoes a lot, I just add them on, how the mood strikes me, when I'm about to go out.
For some reasons (laundry logistics, proportions), I don't mix shirts and pants much.

Grocery shopping is fun ? You're mad as a hatter - "folle à lier", in French, yes our version sounds a bit sinister

Wonderful post and since we won't be seeing you until later this autumn (and, it's never silly to do selfies at any time. I do it when the mood strikes.), I wanted to say how much I love your new kimono top and, the bow shirt and so many of your jackets.

I like the way you've consciously made the decision to use your summer tops as layering pieces under pullovers in the winter. It's simple and brilliant and I don't even know why this surprises me.

As for your amazing jackets and toppers, I think I'm seeing a lot of navy and navy and white. Is the coat/jacket you have on with your kimono top a heavier jacket? Could the two-color jackets also be used or would those be too busy in a way (#3, #7, for example)? I ask, because I wonder, when you have these options, do you stick with the same outfit formula or do you have a preference to change shirts, tops and jackets?

Thanks for sharing your shoe brands, because they are wonderful and nice to know they are comfortable, too.

I, too, loved the smile emerging on your grocery shopping outfit, and I'm one of those who loves to go grocery shopping. I find it fun.

Ledonna : thank you for your ongoing support.

Aida : thank you. Yes, as some of you rightly pointed out here, it's a very practical option to have year round tops, probably would be foolish to mess with this system, esp as most of you think they work fine. I think I started doubting because I'm so used to see some of the tops layered, they felt naked worn alone.
If stand alone summer tops don't work for me in winter, it's not because of maximal style, it's because they can't be layered under a pullover. I was happy to see the kimono shirt went under a jacket without bunching, that means it will be a 3 seasons top.

Interesting thought about your summer tops. I think many of us who live in temperate climates (i.e., places with cold summers!) either do this or we have loads of skimpy tanks which we can't wear; yours is certainly the better functioning of the two! I tend to require that ALL of my tops stand on their own summer or otherwise, but perhaps this works for me because my style certainly has a maximal element so I don't mind also using those pieces to layer with (with an interesting jacket usually, heh). Yours seem plenty find on their own, by the way -- they have an interesting detail, interesting silhouette, or interesting color which carries them nicely on their own and makes them just that much more interesting when layered.

So fun to see the "whole summer wardrobe" across your recent posts! Especially fond of your cropped pants, which I enjoy seeing at varying lengths AND I love that you also wear with varying jacket lengths. #4 and 10 especially appeals from this set, with 8 and 11 coming in right behind.

So enjoyed these! I love your use of white trousers and button downs --they look fresh, and lack the preppy stiffness I often associate with them. Instead, they have a certain old Hollywood (Gene Kelly, Grace Kelly and Kate Hepburn) meets new Europe vibe.

Love the suit with the bold drapey blouse, cropped length and ankle straps.

Angie : LOL. Be reasonable, now, you know I can't send you brownies over the ocean.
Thank you for finding the time to comment on all my WIWs and thank you for all your encouraging comments, they mean a lot to me, as I'm prone to second guess myself and as I value your opinion very much.

Firecracker : yes it's a vintage Cacharel shirt in liberty print, these shirts were a huge hit in the 80s here.
You're right, Angie is very good at describing a person's style and that's not easy to do (as I've discovered myself since I started commenting on the forum WIW).

Jaime : oh yes, Mary Poppins was very popular in my childhood. I choose Van Dyke, his clothes look more comfortable and I'd rather sweep chimneys than babysit kids :)

Sally & Kiwi Sally : you're awfully kind, thank you!

Avicennia : thank you, yes, they're wider and straight, I usually find wider pants harder to style but this cut works surprisingly well.

What a lovely cohesive set of outfits!! I love 2 and 10 but they are all terrific. While my style is quite different in many ways, I approach my wardrobe in a similar way and repeat outfits regularly. I have also run out of winter looks to post.

I love print- I am mostly drawn to stripes and abstract and bold florals. I do also have checks and spots though.

The check shirt is wonderful on you but the quieter button down shirts are great standing alone especially with great shoes. You have a very elegant but non flashy style.

The first thought was I love those white oxfords. And the double vested jacket. With the umbrella you made me think of Mary Poppins right away - whether Julie Andrews or Dick Van Dyke I can't say. (I hope you have seen it.) I like how your jackets often have graphic elements. You look especially fab on your way to the grocers; might be the smile. Your hair looks extra good in these too. Why do we need more clothes? (Rhetorical only.)

Angie has such a way with detecting the essence of a person's style and then describing what she sees. I love her observations here, and she has noted so many of the elements of your style that charm me.
These outfits are a treat to see, Isabelle. I especially like your shorts outfit for the colors and the pretty print in the blouse (which has the look of a Liberty print to me); and though your jacket is gear, it looks perfectly stylish. (Like Maneera, I think it's fun to see your smile in that photo, too.) I like how you combine relaxed elements and touches of formality--as with 5/6: the double breasted blazer and bow blouse, but with the blouse untucked, with cuffed jeans, and the blazer left open. I like the ivory oxfords with the outfit, too--great look with the bit of leg showing.

Darling, Isabelle. It has been a TREAT seeing you post your outfits the last while. Your poised French style is Killer Charming, and your attitude is dripping with verve. You are our Elegant Euro Tomboy, and I adore all your looks. Your kinky hair adds just the right playful girly touch. Your specs add a scholarly vibe, which works wonderfully well for cerebral you.

From this batch, #1, 2, 3, 9 and 10 are my faves. Fun to see you wear coral too. Happy grocery shopping. Bring me back a brownie - the fast in yesterday's ensemble is over.

Maneera : what? I forbid you to throw your wardrobe out, it works wonderfully for you!! :)

Tanya : thank you, yes I love button downs, they make me feel all clean and proper and dressed when I put them on in the morning. I also love how they look at the end of the day, when they're a bit rumpled and their sleeves haphazardly scrunched up and half way out of my jeans (yes, seriously).

Diane & Meredith : thank you, that's a great compliment. I think I'm more interested in shapes than colour.

Viva : you mean you can't find the prints you love or you're not particularly attracted by any prints?

Olen & Karie : I don't mix&match much, actually, I mostly repeat my favourite combo.

Jaileen & Staysfit : I'm glad the short sleeves top work, I had doubts about this one, it's a new shape for me and I'm not used to it.

Smittie : soft colours, yes, you're right, I didn't even noticed! I think you're right too about the jackets lengths, probably shorter is better because I'm short waisted.

Joyce B : I commute on foot so I need comfy shoes, or I will limp all day.
So #3 and #9 are very comfy and affordable, but they come from French brands that don't sell internationally, I think (Clif and Couleur Pourpre).
#11 is from Spanish comfort brand El Naturalista.
#1 is from an awfully expensive Italian brand, Silvano Sassetti (I have to stalk them for months on amazon until they slash the price by half and even then they're expensive - but I happily splurge, they're good quality and feel custom made for my feet)
#7 is from another Italian brand, Eva Turner, that I usually avoid (they make sky high heels that look very uncomfortable). These are comfy probably because they're made of woven leather so kind of elastic.

Brooklyn & Tammyb : oh no, no, I don't like grocery shopping at all. I smile because it's a silly pic taken on the spur of the moment. The daily selfies are boring to take.

Bijou & Lucy & chewyspaghetti : thanks, the kimono and tuxedo jackets I had trouble to style at first, but they were love at first sight and I'm glad I could make them work finally.

Suz : thank you, I find cotton shirts quite breezy actually, not sure if tee-shirts would really be cooler. If I had warmer weather I'd probably wear sleeveless shirts with shorts.

I love #12 because I SO love your smile! As for style, #2 & #6 are seriously fabulous on you.

Your summer wardrobe looks very functional, cohesive, yet versatile. You make me want to throw out 70% of my wardrobe and start from scratch to create something basic yet beautiful that I'd love to wear day after day!

Can't wait to see your Fall/Winter wardrobe, Isabelle. You may not have very many 'true' summer tops, but all of these outfits look pretty good for summer to me!

Your style is so sophisticated and chic. Button-downs are really your signature style. All these outfits are great, but the one in #9/10 with the plaid shirt is amazing.

You have such a lovely elegant style with a heavy dose of interesting thrown in. Your shoes and jackets are great and I agree with Meredith, that you have a great eye for proportions.

I love that your style is very cohesive and the items are mostly interchangeable. This gives lots of possibilities within a limited wardrobe. It's something I'm trying to achieve myself too...

Very nice! Casual yet elegant. I especially like the top in 1/2, and the jacket in 7.
