I would change the sleeves by one of these 3 ways:
1. remove them
2. remove them and re-add only 1-2 inch after the stitch, only on the shoulders and I would make it curly (hope I explained it right)
3. leave the current length, but just make a cut on the shoulder

also, I would straight the bottom of the dress.
and of course, us the heels sandals

Did not read comments, but love the dress and I would leave it with the sleeves it has, maybe altering just the body? The lacey light blue sandals will match the dress so fab!

Glad you're keeping it. It's very pretty, and I like it on you. I think it will be gorgeous with the blue sandals, especially. The style and color work nicely with the dress. I agree with Angie that the other sandals are fine with it, too. I actually think the short sleeves have a little bit of visual weight that balances the hem. I could also envision the dress sleeveless.

Just wanted to add that the pretty coral pink in the print of this dress is a warm touch, and a color that suits you well, I think. You might want to use a coral pink blush and/or lipstick when you wear this lovely dress and those soft blue sandals.

Wow, thanks for all the compliments ladies! I think I'll go with the majority vote (and Angie's vote) and leave the sleeves alone, but my thinking about shortening them was exactly as you mentioned Janet. I will definitely make the alterations to the top. I realized while thinking about this dress that it's one of those "not worn too often" items, and that is perfectly ok, everyone's wardrobe has some of that. I do think it will look great with these new blue sandals.

Very pretty dress. The blue sandals would look great with the dress. So would the bronze. I don't have an opinion on the sleeves. I personally like longer sleeves. They accentuate your waist.

I love this dress on you - the colours are lovely. I really like the coral colour in the print which warms it up. I do think the top of the dress is a bit loose, so that is a change worth making. I really love the floaty skirt - perfect for a hot summer's day and can imagine with your blue sandals it looks fantastic.

Pretty dress. I actually like the idea of shortening the sleeves and angling them so they do not end at a horizontal line straight across the arm -- I personally find that more flattering on my short torso and big bust (my arms are not terribly slim either so I think the angled sleeve helps mitigate that). I love the idea of the blue sandals with it.

I like this very much, and hope you can get the fit to work for you. Also agree with Angie on the sleeves. I have those same Ecco sandals, but realize they didn't appear in my pics. I think the blue ones would look great if you aren't feeling the others with the dress.

FABULOUS potential.

Absolutely NO hacking to cap sleeves, Chris. This sleeve length is flattering and elegant.

Alteration at the waist in a good idea.

Both pairs of sandals will work. You have a great frock option here. And all you did was shop your closet.

Dear fabbers,

I would like to ask for your opinions on this dress. I bought it last summer and only wore it once, but I did get a compliment on it. I like it overall but there are some issues.

The bodice is a little big and is bunching up at the waist, but I could easily fix that by taking in the shoulder seams a little. The sleeves seem a little long and would be prettier as a shorter "capped sleeve" length I think.

Then there is the question of shoes. It works well with my blue suede sandals if I want to wear a bit of heel. For lower sandals I wore it with the bronze ones last year but they seem a little off...perhaps too much strappage on the foot or perhaps this sandal is just too casual. Maybe a slightly dressier sandal in white or silver...

The print is entirely cool colors, not the warm tones I normally wear.

What do you think? JFE? Worth a little bit of work? Not worth it?

(pardon the lighting in the photo, light from the skylight was throwing things off.)

Thanks in advance for all inputs
