I went back to Angie's <a rel="nofollow" href="https://youlookfab.com/2019/02/11/20-spring-and-summer-trends/">SS19 Trends</a> post and found that there's actually a lot to be excited about. On the surface, the vibrant, maximal, clashy look that is everywhere is not really my thing, but there are abundant elements that are in line with my style direction.</p> <p>Some S/S trends I’m looking forward to:</p> <p><b>Bike shorts</b> -- I want these as actual gear for hiking, running and yoga. I’ve alway found that spandex shorts with a shorter inseam roll up on themselves and get all bunchy, so I’m excited by the availability of lots of options with a longer inseam. I might also wear them under short dresses. </p> <p><b>Overalls</b> -- I’m keeping an eye out for some slouchy denim overalls and shortalls. Good for casual wear and in keeping with the utility trend and the 90s retro looks I’ve been seeing. If I had a pair of light-wash overalls right now, I’d be wearing them with a ribbed black turtleneck underneath.</p> <p><b>Hair accessories</b> -- I’m enjoying barrettes and headbands to keep my bob-length hair out of my face; I wouldn’t mind adding some new colours and shapes.</p> <p><b>Earth tones</b> -- Especially excited about adding a dose of mustard, butterscotch, or cinnamon to outfits that are mostly crisp, cool shades of black/white/blue. Still loving my olive too! But ready for some light/bright browns.</p> <p><b>Jumpsuits</b> -- Glad this trend is taking off rather than fizzling out. I have a luxe, drapey plum jumpsuit that I’m excited to wear as soon as it’s warm enough for bare arms. I’d love to find a linen or chambray option this year too. </p> <p><b>Wide legs </b>-- Cropped and full length, with higher rises. I have two cropped pairs in twill, and I’m hoping to find a pair of wide-legged jeans this year with a full inseam. I wouldn’t mind a pair of classic bootcuts either (to wear with sneakers!).</p> <p><b>Midi skirts</b> -- I have several skirts ranging in length from below-the-knee to below-the-calf. I think they will be a big part of my summer outfits, paired with boxy cropped tops or with fitted tank tops.</p> <p><b>Chunky/sporty sandals </b>-- I wear my Chacos all summer long anyway. Fun that they’re trending. And I just added a pair of white EVA Birks as my pool slides. Fully invested in this trend! ;)</p> <p><b>Windowpane plaid </b>-- Most of the loud maximal patterns I’m seeing lately do nothing for me, so I am happy that windowpane plaid still seems to be trending. I added a linen windowpane tank top last year. It didn’t get much wear since I had to alter it a bit. Now it’s ready to go; I’m just waiting for warmer weather!</p> <p><b>Sneakers with everything</b> -- I have a nice little collection of sneakers and I’m looking forward to wearing them with everything, especially skirts and dresses.</p> <p>Photos and Finds are a mish-mash of inspo, things I have and things I want. Just to give you an idea.&nbsp;</p>
