That way you know for sure if you want to add them to your closet or not. Trying them on at home with your clothes etc is the best way to assess IMO. They are an investment so I would want to be sure. I have owned a couple of pairs of distressed jeans, and the reinforced ones are really the way to go. They will look just right for years. I have some I love (Vigoss from the Rack $24) that were a LOT cheaper so I'm not sure if the price of these justifies it in this case. I've been seeing so many more distressed jeans that I feel they will be more available and therefore more options available at different price points. If you think you will like them longterm ( I was not sure hence the under $30 commitment) then I think a higher budget is justified.
