I have the Athleta shirt in lavender- love the color and the small sharp collar. . I love the fit for the most part but the high- low is very pronounced in back and now arms too long for my proportions. I’m thinking is seeing if tailor can alter it, though might have yo turn into straight hem.
For me the fabric is +/-. It’s synthetic- feeling enough that when the eratohere gets the least bit warm & humid it feels sticky. But is not warm enough for me on chilly day. So I’m not going to add other colors.

Irina, if I can wear a bikini, I promise you anyone here on this forum can! :-D

Oh, and believe me, the hat, sunglasses, and a good coverup are absolutely essential. I'm not big on sunbathing, so actual time seen in a bikini is minimal, as it's usually just when I'm in the water!

Nice new additions. Love those boots!
And good luck with a bikini. I would change a destination, probably, if I required to wear a bikini. LOL
Another option for me would be to wear a really wide brimmed hat, huge sun glasses and one piece swimsuit - and to imagine myself a retired movie star on vacations. LOL But that's me. To you I offer my sincere support!

Angie, the Athleta shirt feels a bit like technical fabric, but for me walks the line nicely and doesn't feel like gear. It almost has a feel like heavier silk, IYKWIM. The drape is great, while still having enough structure that the collar doesn't feel too floppy, which can be an issue with these kinds of shirts.

Great list, they all look like such beautiful pieces. I love the black boots. Interesting that sling backs work better for many of you. I don't have a problem keeping loafers on my heel but the few times I have owned sling backs the sling slides down. Super annoying.

No way I am getting into a bikini, let alone wearing one in public. I have seen some cute ones lately though that make me wish I was a little less inhibited.

Thanks, everyone!

I feel like I’m getting better at assessing items up front and returning quickly if they won’t work, rather than having things hang around unused that I thought I *had* to have!

Some additional thought:

- this winter, despite warmer than usual temps, I have been all about the longer coats. My short coats have barely been worn. I’m not getting rid of them, just noting the shift. I’ve loved the dash of sophistication a long wool coat adds over a basic casual outfit. After a few years of barely wearing my long burgundy coat, it’s been a MVP this winter. Ditto to my Target/Nili Lotan houndstooth coat. They’re both lightweight enough that they’ve worked for our weather. When it’s colder, I’ve worn the long black puffer.

- I have barely worn my slim straight jeans. I’m much preferring boyfriends, bootcut/flares, and slightly wider legged styles. The exception is my moto jeans from Peruvian Connection. I still love those and wear them. I even considered duplicating as I found them in a deep pine green color, but I don’t really *need* them.

- I’m happy that the newer pant styles I’ve been enjoying — easy cargoes and joggers — work not only for winter but warmer months as well. Tighter pant styles just feel too warm, and I’m not wild about how shorts look on me, so this is a trend I’m happy to continue embracing for summer.

Love the new pieces especially those boots, I don't dare click on the link as I confess boots are my weakness!
The white shirt is interesting too and we actually have an Athleta store nearby, shocking really as the Lehigh Valley is lame for fashion so I'll take a look.
Last week I was in St Martin and I'm thankful to report that it was one piece territory at my resort lol! Have fun on your trip

Love all your items. I particularly love the pink sweater and think it will add a really nice different zing to your wardrobe. I get what you are saying about the bikini - where I live on the Black Sea, when I put on my black one piece I stand out like a search light is shining on me. EVERYONE, tourists from all over Europe wear bikinis; all ages, shapes and sizes. So much so that last year I wore a bikini for the first time in 25 years! I was less conspicuous.

Fab additions. I really love the Proenza Schouler pants. The cut looks fantastic. So pricey but I'll bet worth it. I want a pair, too, waaaaaaa.

I like the boots, too,

Angie, I’ve seen that sling back style popping up here and there, and it does hold some appeal for me, even though it skews dressier than I need. I’m more interested in casual open toe sandals, but I do love a nice slingback — it sidesteps my issues with shoes falling off my heels.

Spring around these parts is typically short, and summer comes quickly. Heck, we already had a day when the temps approached 80 degrees, in February!

I don’t shop much for spring, per se. My “spring” purchases tend to be things I will wear in summer, and/or can be worn now, when there is still truly chilly weather. So we’re talking basics and classics, items that can be layered, sometimes new denim.

Inspired by recap posts that I’ve found very helpful lately, I have done a loose list of my own, covering purchases since the first of the year:

- New black Sanctuary cargo joggers. Confession time: the first ones I got in December shrank even though I laundered them carefully and hung to dry. They have been workhorses so I almost cried. But I found a size up on Zappos and purchased them in a second size. I’ve already worn the new ones multiple times, and I’m keeping the smaller ones for weight loss, because a mere five pounds will make them fit again, while the larger size will just be an option with a little more ease.

- Athleta white shirt. I’ve been wanting a new crisp but not stiff white shirt, and discovered this one! Fit is nice and it seems versatile — already worn twice layered under sweaters and jackets but will play nicely even without layering in warmer weather.

- Athleta Brooklyn joggers in an olive green. I purchased these on sale last week and they are slightly slimmer than I prefer but they stretch, and I’m losing weight slowly so I think they will fit with more ease come summer. I’m enjoying the jogger/cargo vibe lately, and these can be worn nearly year-round, for casual or even hiking. Still have tags on but I’m taking a trip next week and will probably wear these for the plane ride.

- L’Agence denim jacket — an updated denim jacket is very useful for me year-round and this has already been worn multiple times!

- Lilla P short sleeve black button front tee — will be very useful come summer, but good for layering year-round and has already been worn.

-French Connection color block sweater in coral/pink/toffee. This is a dupe of a style I got in navy/grey/toffee, a fun injection of color and has been worn a few times already.

- Four pairs of new socks from Bombas

I have some new pieces under review:

- Rag & Bone bootcut jeans — I’m between sizes, but the smaller ones are too short and I don’t like the narrowness of the leg. The larger ones have a nice ease to them but need to be altered significantly in the waist. I’m a little nervous about investing in an alteration and then going down a size as I am working on improving some eating habits.

- Proenza Schouler pants - these are grey version of the black PS trousers I already own. I love the fabric so much. They are slightly big on me but I didn’t like the fit when I sized down (I like them sitting a little lower on my hip). They’re expensive so I really need to consider carefully.

- Freda Salvador lug soled boots. I love the look — refined lug sole style with a narrower toe and low heel! But I’m ordering a variation in waterproof suede too, which has a zip and may be more comfortable. There is some light rubbing on side of my foot in the patent croc version.

- Allsaints patterned blouse that I posted on separately - it’s been altered and I need to decide if it needs to be taken in more.

I retired a bunch of old pieces that I already took to consign or donate, so no accounting of those.

I also got new hiking boots but I’m a little nervous about them. After three miles in the woods they felt a little like they’re rubbing on the side of one foot, but the next half size up felt too big.

I’m not really ready to think about summer yet, but realistically that will be my next shopping destination. Perhaps updated sandals of some kind, depending on what’s looking new and fresh this year.

I am a little nervous because we have a short tropical vacation planned for the end of April. I’m hoping my old bikinis will fit better by then, I haven’t dared to try them on in a year or more. (It’s not a one-piece kind of destination!) The last thing I feel like doing is putting on a swimsuit right now! But mentally preparing that may need a little shopping session for swimwear before then.

If you’ve read all this, thanks for sticking with my long-winded post! This is mostly for my own benefit as it has helped me quantify the year so far, which will help me plan…at least as much as I ever plan when it comes to my wardrobe!
