kkards — Quince keeps coming up in my feed too! Their prices are very tempting.

greyscale — ooh, I like the striped one! Gonna let that one sit in my cart for a while with these balloon jeans...

hadilly — Eric Bompard looks like a great option. Amazing selection of colors!

Madewell just added some. They’re slouchy, not as classic. Maybe overwhelming or maybe great. For some reason cashmere makes me too hot but I’m also tempted. Also comes in stripe.

I can see that also. I do tend to think of merino as easier upkeep and have considered items in that..
I run cold on arms, so am more likely to need full sleeves even if in lighter fabrics in mild/transitional weather, than more core/trunk warmth. Is why I have to tell myself not to buy more vests.
But cashmere is SO cozy.
I have only been a sporadic thrifter, but had planned to do more in retirement with more free time, maybe traveling farther afield, or being able to make a quick review of what's new more often, for that occasional great find, and "vintage" cashmere or other classic tailored items was on that list.. But pandemic has put a damper on that.

unfrumped -- my thinking is the inverse of yours! I have a couple of merino tees and tanks that I reach for a lot year-round and have been pondering what a dressier equivalent of these tops might be, and I landed on cashmere tees/shells. I tried a silk crepe tee and shell, but they didn't quite hit the right note, weren't warm enough or versatile enough...

nemosmom -- I'll write an update if I find something great!

I love the luxe idea of cashmere in not-longsleeve items, but end up finding it seasonally confused, and also I have no idea how to prevent such items from being moth-bait. Meaning, I try to wear my winter cashmere sweaters with at least a short sleeved underlayer (tanks may help too, but don't line the underarm area well, even if if very light cotton such as the really light Hanro undershirt, thinking this means it won't be as much moth-candy, since not planning to wash after every wear. Whereas sleeveless and SS tops are often underlayers of some sort themselves.
I do bank on the idea that moths may not be as drawn to items hanging spread apart in closet, with light, as during off -season storage, but I'm not sure.
I've always wondered about the discrepancy between, "only store clean, washed or dry-cleaned woolen sweaters" vs how one goes through a winter season, typically (( assume) wearing such sweaters at least several times between washings, and putting them in drawers (recommended for sweaters), or even hanging them, as I do.

I had been thinking of getting, in future, something like a merino "active" T shirt for travel, since I don't think the moths travel and since the active-wear brands tend to be marketed as more durable for washing.
YMMV if you have never had any moth issues.

I would *love* to find a vintage version. My in-person thrift options are pretty limited right now, but that would definitely be my first choice.

The only short-sleeve cashmere I ever had belonged originally to my grandmother. It had both a cowl neck and a very deep welt (guessing it dated back to the '80s), so it kind of made me look like a person with no torso at all... but it was deliciously soft to the touch and wore like iron. :)

I have a very old sleeveless black cashmere shell with a crew neck that I probably thrifted. It was worn a lot when I was younger, as well as a deep pink tweedy wool sleeveless top. I wore them most on their own, sometimes under a jacket. Now I run too cold to wear them that way but still have the black cashmere that sometimes is a bottom layer under something else. Vintage cashmere does not seem to pill.

I ordered 2 plain ones from Everlane in November, one black and one cream. Love them.
When buying short sleeve or 3/4 sleeve sweaters, I look for light weight cashmere and call it “summer cashmere “. My navy one from Theory made from regular sweater knit and too hot under a blazer in spring or on its own on colder summer days.

I just saw that J Crew shell this morning too . I had been thinking the very same thing - that I'd love a cashmere t or shell again , as I remembered how much I loved having one (what now feels like a million years ago). Mine were from Holt Renfrew's own label, which makes me wonder if places like Saks, Bloomingdales, even Nordstrom, have cashmere t's and shells under their own label. Or am I just revealing how old I now am; ?

I've been daydreaming about adding a cashmere shell or tee, but options appear to be pretty limited at the moment, maybe because it's late winter? I would think this would be the perfect spring piece, but my spring temps are colder than most, I guess. So far, I've looked at J Crew, Everlane, and Naadam. I would love to try Naadam, but their short sleeve version has a deeply welted hem and a scoop neck, not really what I'm looking for. And their only sleeveless appears to be a crop-top, and I'm afraid I'm just not cool enough for that look. ;)

J Crew's colours aren't super inspiring to me, and they don't look as nicely finished as Everlane's, which are also a smidge cheaper. Side note: Everlane's photos seem to be at a weird resolution that doesn't cooperate with Finds -- annoying!).

Anywhere else I should look? Anyone have a simple cashmere crewneck tee that they absolutely love? Bonus points for minimal pilling and interesting muted/heathered colours.
