I'm impressed then. Good job exercising wardrobe discipline. And maybe someday when you least expect it, a pair of all leather red boots will find you.

Mochi and others thanks. I had only skimmed quickly and you are right and the fact that they are not leather is a deal breaker in this instance. Red boots have been on my "list" for about 12 months so seeing these caused me to revisit the possibility. Having read your comments and having lived with the idea of red talk boots for ages now, I have come to the conclusion that I don't need them or want them after all:). Thanks for helping me work this thru:).

There is definitely a benefit to waiting for things and one is you really do consider how important it is. It allows the immediate emotional response to subside and practical consideration to take place.

Thank you xxx

If I had to pick one it would be #1, but I'm not in love with either. I think I would prefer a red boot to be matte leather instead of shiny, to take off some of the "in your face-ness" as you say. I do think a nice red pair of boots would be fantastic with a black and grey winter palette though.

Ooooo, these are fun! I could see you in tall red boots with skinnies, and with many of the skirts and dresses you wear, fun! I really loved the first ones for the heel and that fantastic strap and buckle, but the second are pretty too. Such choices! It seems like pair #1 are in the lead from reading the comments.

I also noticed that they are both not leather (although the leather lining in #1 might help), and I know that if so much of my foot & leg was encased in non-leather, I would not be happy wearing them in any temps :-(

Style wise, I prefer #1 for it's simple and bold buckle, and toe and heel shapes. In that they both have shine, I would also lean toward that darker red in #1.

Don't know what you'll decide about these, but it's fun to hunt down a certain item :-)

I think the shiny finish makes them look more like rain boots than dress boots, but of the two I prefer the first pair based on colour and design details.

I prefer #1 over #2 as it has more detail and a more sophisticated shade of red. I don't think these boots will be as "bossy" as the other pair and think they will work better with more colors than the second .

I'm writing this before I read the other replies:

My favorite pair is #1, they are edgier and more chic. I think if you're going to go red with boots (and I love to go red with boots), they should have some "umpf" to them. As far as boots or booties, I think either is fine and the "in your face" depends on what you are going to pair with them. Pair them with skin tight leggings and a halter top a la "Pretty Woman" - in your face; pair them with a pretty black pencil skirt and drapey top - gorgeous and chic.

From what I know about you, I'm pretty sure you'll be going the gorgeous and chic route :)

Right, I had a good look at both and they are both synthetic uppers with the darker red one being lined in leather. So there is only the lining to make a difference; purely on aesthetics I love number 1 the best as it has a bit of character with the details.

Hi, Deb. Both pairs are beautiful! As for your question about red boots being "in your face", I look at that as a good thing. I think they're a stunning statement and so mod and chic, perfect for you.

I love the design of the first boot in particular (and its richer color--the cherry red of the second boot is nice too...just a matter of taste, I guess).

But I looked at the details. The second pair is not leather at all. The first pair has a leather lining, but at least from what I understand, the outer, visible boot is not made of leather. I had suspected as much, since that seemed to be an extremely low price for a leather boot. (ETA that it's sneaky the way they describe the boots as "patent". You have to go into the Measurement and Details section to get the real makeup.)

It would probably matter a lot in terms of longevity, but I don't know if this is an issue for you.

I love red boots! I want this pair...

http://www.strideshoes.com.au/.....-Boot.aspx

They are over budget for me at the moment, so I am waiting for a sale, but should be super comfortable! The darker red also means they won't stand out quite as much, but they are still red enough for me!

I'd go for comfort, but if they are red, I love them!!

I just can't tell, Deborah. I think the Tantrum red is too blue for your colouring and I think the tomato red has too much shine, almost like patent. That, I think would be OTT.
I think a pair of red boots is a sensible and at the same time fun addition to your winter wardrobe. In the right pair you will be a joyful sight.
I also vote for #1, both because of the cool design and the deeper color red. If you're worried about red being too "in your face," the more toned-down/blue-ish red in #1 is a little less ostentatious. Plus, the buckle and the overall style are so elegant eclectic.

Red is one of your wardrobe colors, so I think this is a good buy.

I'm with CocoLion and Lyn D. but it might also be that I personally am less keen on red with more orange, as in 2. I also prefer a knee boot that is not too gaping around my legs, and 1 looks slimmer than 2 on the photos. But more generally, whichever you choose, I would say GO FOR IT! I used to have red boots and not only I myself loved them, I got loads and loads of compliments every time I wore them, at least tripling the amount of human contact in my life at the time!

Enjoy them!

I think if you are going to wear a red boot the style may as well be dramatic!
#1 would be my choice for this reason.
It is a blue-er red than #2- how will that play with your colouring?

My vote goes to #1, they have an edgier design. The long toe box is on trend, as is the low block heel. As well as the fitted calf (why do I think "fatted calf" as I type this...)

The squared toe could either be seen as very ahead (I have seen this on designer mens shoes at Barney's) or dated. Remember all of the snipped in pointy toe shoes from the early 00s. I can't decide which it is, because the picture's small.

But overall, they intrigue me.

Happy Weekend Ladies!

Doing some online browsing while I prepare dinner ... as you do.

One of the items I have had on my "maybe" list for Autumn/Winter is a pair of red boots.

If you have time I would love you to take a look at these two pairs. Both are leather, good heel height and reputable brands.

I am not sure if a tall red boot is too "in your face". For the most part I would see these working with blacks and greys.

What do you think?

Thanks for looking :)

And yes, I am on a boot fest But I found last year that I wore boots and not any of my 'shoes' throughout winter. So variety is kind of necessary.

xxx Deborah

ETA: links for bigger pictures:)
