Our weather is such that a vest over a sweater is fine for running errands. One of my vests is huge and poofy, and I save it for shoveling snow. I used to live in a resort area and love the look of casual mountain wear (I still live 30 minutes from a ski hill). I think they look great on many women, but not on me. I have not ever adjusted to the big cowl necked sweaters. It took me till last year to accept straight leg jeans (not skinnies, too fat for them) but a narrower leg than trouser-style jeans. I 've not bought new jeans in two years because the ankle trend seems to be overwhelming all other styles so I can no longer find 32 inch inseams. The big one is quilted vests, like the one JAileen posted about recently. I have two of them (both a bit dull, just plain black and plain white) and I want more! J Crew had a tweed one out a few years ago that I really like but so far I haven't found an equivalent in my size. I'll probably have to try my hand at sewing one if I can find a decent pattern.</p> <p>I've also suddenly developed a desire to own a sweater vest, of the somewhat sloppy type with the big cowl-like neckline. These were very popular about 5 years ago here and I detested them, but suddenly I am pining for one! I guess I'm just a really late adopter. </p>
