Totally sure that Everlane was never as “pure” as they claimed, but how low will Shien drag them?

Wow. It does sound like greenwashing for Shein. I wonder whether they will maintain Everlane's standards and approch -- call me cynical, but it seems unlikely.

It's greenwashing, as Angie said, for Shein. And Everlane is apparently not quite as free from controversy as I thought. Can't come up with the source, but I've read a fair bit about it in the last week. I haven't bought from Everlane in a few years, but there is no way I will now. Temu and Shein will never darken my doorway ;).

(Hah! Jenni ;) )

YES! I saw this a few days ago, kkards. IMO, Shein could do with a very sustainable brand under its umbrella. Like Everlane. The ironic acquisition is strategically brilliant. Green washing for Shein.

I continue to support Everlane as long as it has "the goods". Hubs Greg's favourite tees are from Everlane. I just bought a fantastic sweatshirt from Everlane. I have cashmere knitwear from Everlane that is old and fabulous. NO PILLING! Those are the goods I'm after.

To your point, it will be interesting to see what will happen to both brands. I have yet to see a Shein item in person. I'm curious! My 21 year old goddaughter who lives in South Africa has friends that buy and wear a lot of Shein items. It works for them!

Just saw an ad again. They can’t spell: “Shein capsule for confident wifes”.
And the AI stylist is called “Dressly”. Alas.

I just saw that, but did not read the article. It doesn't sound good, though the whole world may be watching, putting them on their toes. I wonder if they will put Everlane in a more affordable direction, given their wide reach and production.

First thought is Oh No! It seems impossible to avoid Shein’s presence, they advertise so heavily, as does the even newer Temu. I have avoided buying from either as the ultra fast cheap nature of the products makes me feel someone is being treated badly somewhere. However when my DD1 brought home 3-4 items for me she got in a clothes swap early last year, one was a black and white Shein jacket which is actually quite nice, although I have not worn it yet. It’s really similar to the black and white swing coat I have, in its pattern, so I guess that’s why she thought I would like it.
I enjoy playing a tile matching game on my phone, and one of the ads is for a Shein “capsule wardrobe” with an AI stylist which the ad claims has 500,000 plus users!? I prefer Angie as a stylist!

Shein buys Everlane, a union of ultrafast fashion and 'affordable luxury'

https://www.npr.org/2026/05/22.....s-everlane

Well not 100% sure how to feel about this. On the one hand, despite Everlanes radical transparency claim, I never felt they were. On the other hand I felt like they did deliver quality that was aligned with their retails.
Now I admit I’ve never shopped let alone bought anything from SHEIN, but based on reputation I’m left wondering what this will mean for both brands
Thoughts?
