I would love to join you floozies in this trend and think it is super trendy and cute! But, at the moment I have plenty of other boot options crowding my closet. Maybe during January sales I can score a pair and join you all in floozie-dom

I'm also drooling over these types of boots - Tanya, I *love* the pair you posted. I'm actually thinking that some of these boots won't be over the knee for me, but just at the knee. thank goodness there's some boots with a 17" height or taller more readily available now!

Thanks for being my floozie friend, Julie. And thanks for loving my boots too. They are completely flat and quite casual. A splurge in HK last year. I wore them to the Manhattan YLF convention too. 10 hour walking shoes:

Aw, that makes sense Shiny. I do remember in the 70's-80's when women wore skirts at calf length and knee high boots, with no leg showing, and it seemed to workout OK. With the over the knee boots it does seem to be one of those times where you would use the eye to get the proportions right for each body. A person would also need youth on their side. I agree it could be cute done right.

LOL, San, you are so funny. Actually you (and Tanya too!) have the legs and figure to pull these off, if you wanted. The trick is to get sleek boots - not something like this, which I think are just awful:

http://www.freepeople.com/inde.....-_-Primary

They remind me of waders! For fishing!

If the boots are sleek (yes, even in the knee area), you get one long lean line. I think this is why having that slit in the back of the knee helps. It enables you to have a more form-fitting boot around the knee, while still being able to bend the knee.

And yes, I think showing a bit more thigh helps give some shape too, but more importantly, creates balance. Not necessarily a micro-mini, but one that hits halfway down the thigh? If you go too long, you're covering up the top of the boot. I guess it's just like when you wear regular boots with a skirt - you want a bit of space between the top of the boot and your skirt. Possibly it's one of those things you have to play around with to get it right.

I'm not really getting it, but I have not seen them worn in real life. In my imagination it seems the boots over the knee like this would make a woman look like she has stumps for legs.
Shiny, how short of a dress were you seeing? If you are talking about nearly showing your chocha short, (from daddylikey.com) then I guess there would be some leg showing to give some shape to the legs. I don't have a clue what I'm talking about, just wondering how they pull off the look.

I am attracted to this type of look and would totally wear it the way Shiny described it, but a new pair of boots is not in the budget at the moment. If one is careful about the actual boots and puts everything together properly, it can look very classy. I am dreaming of these boots:

I saw this look a lot while traveling this past week. Not so much in Hong Kong (it was quite hot and humid the whole time we were there), but in the airports. I did not think the women sporting this look looked like floozies. I thought they looked quite chic.

I think Mimi Spencer has it right.... the women I saw who pulled this off wore black boots NOT patent) with black opaque leggings. The boots had no bling on them (no studs or buckles or other ornamentation), and flat or low heels. They blended in with the leggings. I actually would do a double take - not realizing at first the women were even wearing boots - they blended in with the leggings that well.

Skirts or tunics were on the short side. I suspect that you do need to be able to pull off a short hemline to make this work. And by short, I don't mean a few inches above the knee! For this reason, the look is not for me. My days of minis are over.

All the boots I saw had a slit at the back of the knee. This is probably a practical design feature if you are planning to sit a lot. I would look for that feature.

I'm quite drawn to the look, however they are not appropriate for my lifestyle at the moment (two young children). I'm in the UK so I can't really help with your search for a specific pair but I do like these for the following reasons:
http://www.office.co.uk/womens.....4/19084/1/
The combination of the round toe, flat heel, suede fabrication and colour removes any connotations of sleaze.

I also really like Mimi Spencer, UK fashion columnist, take on the trend,
'Rather than see dominatrix, try to see the silhouette, try to understand that this fashion event is simply an advance on the leggings, treggings and jeggings which have been hogging the limelight for so long. When the skinny jean showed no sign of expiration, designers simply looked for ways to push the shape further - and the boot leg is the result.'

I would love to hear Angie's take on the trend, would you treat the boot as a legging/ skinny jean extension and pair with volume, tunics and boyfriend blazers?

Marisa, do you have links to the boots you have seen?

If you're in to this trend like I am, you've probably realized its hard to find the perfect over the knee boot that doesn't look too bulky, or make you look like a floosy. I found a really great pair by Chinese Laundry at Dillards for $99 but they were very simple. A more daring pair with studs at Bakers for $120...has anyone found anything cheaper? I would prefer if they were flat with a rounded toe, but anything works, really.
