I've done this a couple of years ago and it worked fine. It's wide calf heaven! They measure your calfs, then you try on any style that you're interested in. Once you've decided, you order them and they ship them to you. They were about 160 pounds, since they took off VAT but added shipping costs to the US. It was interesting to note that on the website they still charge VAT but also add shipping, making the boots 20 pounds more expensive.</p> <p>On the whole, I'd highly recommend Duo. Their boots are beautiful and high quality and they are perfect for tricky calves. Plus, I think my calves are around 14.5" to 15" at their widest point. One particular brand/style seemed to fit me well - it's the ECCO Bremen Women's tall boot - which has an adjustable buckle on the side, near the top of the calf. They work on my bare legs AND over skinny jeans, if you can imagine that. </p> <p>I did some researching into why this might be - and it's that ECCO uses a last that is meant for narrow support around the heels and through the foot, but also leaves a bit of room at the toe area. </p> <p>Here's what it says on their website:</p> <p>"ECCO Shoes fit like no other. Conventional shoes fit across your feet at the toes, restricting the way your toes spread as you walk. I wanted the black leather ones but they didn't have my size and/or weren't on for such a fabulous price. I just checked Amazon and the good deal I got a few months ago isn't on anymore. Not 100% sure on this. </p> <p>Meanwhile, I was at places like DSW and Marshall's recently, trying on boots - and my heels and feet are so narrow that a lot of boots were flipping at the back of the heel, no matter which size I grabbed, and furthermore - they'd be too loose/bunchy at the ankles (I'm talking about non-slouch boots, where you don't want bunching at the ankles). </p> <p>I think boots are just one of those things that are very hard to shop for. Some have narrow calves and can't find anything so easily either. Or, the calf is somewhat wider etc. I think every single person here has struggled to find the 'right boots'. It requires tons of trying on and making sure the fit is right. I lucked out that the brown ECCO Bremen boot fit so beautifully. Most of the other boots I've been trying on in stores have not been working out at all!</p> <p>That said, I wouldn't necessarily go for a boot that says 15" calf circumference - if they're leather they might stretch out a wee bit. It depends if you want to wear them with skirts/dresses or over skinnies/straight leg jeans. After an afternoon at the mall with my husband and attempting to try on at least thirty different pair of boots, I left with my self-image nearly shredded.</p> <p>Last night I took a deep breath and measured the circumference of my calves.
