We tend to make chunky homemade sauces at my place, with a tomato base and sausage and/or lots of veg, or pesto made with collard greens and prosciutto. So eating it without pasta is more like having a stew or a purée. Since I can't drink alcohol or eat sweets (hypoglycemia) or eat cheese (sigh... Post-baby I suddenly became lactose intolerant) I focus on eating protein, fruits, and veg. Lots of fish, also avocados and nuts. My diet is very limited but I still eat well and it seems to work! The biggest hassle is eating sandwich ingredients without bread, or pasta sauce without pasta. But...
