Greenglove recently had a skirt taken in at the bottom and she modeled it with brogues, which have a high vamp, and it worked beautifully. Is that the same style that Angie has in black? I always loved those on her too. I think that they would look good with tights that were a similar tone. I have this on the brain because I just bought some houndstooth tights in this kind of color yesterday. You have terrific legs and these are lovely, slightly edgy, yet still comfortable-looking shoes.</p> <p>Having said that, I absolutely understand your reservations. I feel similarly for myself. Not having super long legs, I worry about the stump factor of a high vamp, and even if that is not what others see, that is what I see (on myself, I mean). So for me it is very tricky and the hose and bootie must be the same colour or I just won't feel comfortable. </p> <p>Here, the taupe is absolutely beautiful, but with your delicate ankle and that horizontal line, there is a sense of cut-off. It is slight, it does not make them look bad (to my eye) but it is there. </p> <p>On the other hand, these bookend your hair beautifully, much better than a true beige probably would. And I think they are an incredibly versatile colour that sort of blends with whatever else you might be wearing; they work with cool tones but also with warms and look very sophisticated. </p> <p>So...it's a tough call. I would hang onto them and wear them around the house for a few days if you can, to try to puzzle it through. While I got confirmation that this is a challenging quest, I was quite enchanted with these Fidji booties Parsley suggested and decided to order them to try, even though they are taupe not beige. Someone requested I post photos, so here we go.</p> <p>I'm 90% sure that I will return them, sadly. The shoes themselves are beautiful - I understand now why Fidji fans rave about the brand. Well made, very pretty, very comfortable. At this price level I'm going to be hyper picky, though, and 1) I think I'll hold out for a sand/beige color rather than taupe (they are more grey than beige), and 2) I'm also not sure whether this particular shape really looks that great with my skirts. </p> <p>I'd actually love to get some feedback on that 2nd point: How do they look on me with these skirts and the dress? The shoes I'll end up buying *have* to look good with these items; I cannot justify shoes that are sub-optimal or are better with pants than skirts. And for some reason I'm not loving the look - is it because the vamp is high? Or is it the color contrast that makes the horizontal line so much more obvious, and maybe if they were more sand/nude colored it would look better because there would be more of a tone-on-tone look with the hose?</p> <p>Any input much appreciated, since I'll keep looking and any help figuring out the most flattering shape/style would be great.
