Thanks Jenni! Fingers crossed on the job but I really don’t expect to be permitted to take it. I’m still looking for something else here in Germany.
Yes, the first pix posted, with the green top, are old ones from Tampa.

FashIntern, I’m completely confused! Is this a job in Germany? I’m guessing those were older pics of the first outfit.
Anyway, congratulations on the job and hope ( German?) immigration lets you take it. As your son is later in teenage now then I guess he doesn’t need the same amount of looking after he once did.
I had voted yay to the first outfit, it looked both tidy and interesting to me.

Cjh, by green I meant the patterned one in the first pix, taken in Florida.

Thanks Gigi! It’s a favorite sweater, but everything about it just feels right. Purchased from Winter Silks ~12 years ago.

Kkards, thanks—fingers crossed!

Vildy, sounds reasonable to me, but reasonability seems to be a reason things get shot down there (who, me, irritated?). The latest application I filed includes a note from my son’s doc about his asthma. Fingers crossed!

Thanks for all the good wishes, everyone! Tbh, I’d be surprised if Immigration OKs me taking the job, because the salary is too low—they’d rather have me grind through more savings than earn too little.

Angie, no, we are not back in Florida. Even if we wind up returning to the US, I don’t think we would go back to Florida. The pictures with the green sweater were taken in Florida a couple of years ago. It was a winter outfit then, and that counted as a serious sweater there. Here, even on a fall day like today, I was much more comfortable with a thicker sweater, boots, and thicker tights (actually over-knee socks worn on top of fairly thin tights).

Thank you all! I don’t think I’ve ever seen such unanimity here.

As it turns out, I posted those pix (from Florida) too late for anyone to comment in time for the interview. I think I knew it might not be the best outfit, so I switched to a solid sweater (with texture). I got the job, now just have to see if the immigration office will let me do it.

Pictures were taken while shopping on the way home. That’s a mini tire pump and cartridges in my hand. No idea how the sweater hem got flipped up, hope it wasn’t like that while talking to HR.

I'm a big fan of pattern mixing and really like the top and skirt combination. If you're interviewing for something in a creative field, then by all means, I say, "Why not." On the other hand, if the interview is for something in a more conservative work environment like law or banking, then it might be safer to go with a top in a much smaller scale print that could read as a neutral.

Mixed prints and the neckline looking good. I would consider adding something like solid white scarf on the neck - just to bring more neutrals into play. I guess it all depends on the particular place where the interview is happening. Good luck!

To be fair I (for myself) am more conservative when pattern mixing-color scheme seems good as is neutral and quite close to each other but the scale and rhytm of repetition of the patterns are almost the same and pattern of the skirt has a definite direction which distrurbs me a bit.
I am more happy when pairing very small with a bigger scale-I cannot put exactly my finger on. If this doesn't bother you and you are OK with the mix I say wear it happy!
Both pieces are great contenders for a smart interview on their own and paired with something uni/plain and it surely depends a lot on the industry, I just wouldn't wear them together for that purpose.
Wanted to add, to my eyes neckline is quite OK- I wouldn't bother to raise it- hosiery and shoes work beautifull, as well. No matter your decision, just wish you good luck!:-)

I think it's just fine for private life but you don't know the inner life of the interviewer. :D Lots of people attribute negative meanings to pattern mixing. The majority of my own outfits in warmer weather are pattern mixed but I don't have to subject myself to someone's ideas of them.

Yes, I think they work together. The pattern of the skirt is actually quite subtle (to my eye anyway!). I don’t know whether it’s the best choice for an interview. I think it depends on the dress culture associated with the job.
