AJ, I have foot issues as well and I also own the Born Thickets. They are very comfortable, but of course, everyone's foot issues are unique. I would suggest giving the Born Persimmons a go and see how it feels. Born is one brand I can usually buy and be sure that my feet will not suffer. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

I've never lived in incliment weather so I can't comment on the necesssary properties. But I love the london fog boots. It seems to me, they would be good because london fog is known for clothes that can stand up to the elements.

I walked all over a cold and wet Scotland in my Aersole Ride Lines in comfort.

They are not leather tho.

I put my orthotic in with a thin insole (that my podiatrist sells) over the orthotic and it worked very nicely.

Ridelines do not have removeable insoles and neither do the Born's I don't think.

Hi aj - I didn't look at all of the links, but wanted to say that I have the Born Thicket riding boots (Nordstrom has them online) and they are very cushy. Does that brand work for you?

I've been wearing my black and brown Aerosoles boots quite a bit already with my skinny jeans -- and I just can't keep wearing them. I didn't wear them the last two fall/winters because I was having foot problems. But even though my feet are doing much better, these boots just don't work -- 2" heels are too high for me now and they don't have any cushion for my feet (insoles don't fit).

Plus, I need a good pair of winter boots for my trip to Lithuania. I want flat or low heeled boots because I will be walking in snow/ice on brick and cobblestone streets. But I also want to have boots that I can keep wearing once I am back in Seattle.

I went back and read some of the early boot threads but I'm still not sure whether I should look for waterproof instead of leather. I think that brown boots will be most versatile. I'm thinking of getting two pair since I'll probably wear boots all winter and thought gray would be another versatile color --- maybe ankle boots in gray except they all seem to have high heels. Under $200 would be best, especially if I want to buy two pair.

Here are some I've looked at:
