They look fab in you, and I agree that they enhance ankle curve. The flats seem to have too much coverage in the front, which isn't balanced enough by the laces to my eye. Have you owned that style of lace-up sandal before? They are a "lot of shoe"; statement pieces as others have said and you wear them beautifully. I find that if I am not 150% into attention grabbing pieces, they aren't my best investment, as I don't wear them enough and I regret that somewhere out there are "my" statement items. I wouldn't keep them if the hesitation remains. Bravo for being able to sport a 3 inch heel. </p> <p>The second pair doesn't excite me for the same reason as some others: the issues of the fussy ties and overall balance of the shoe. I would keep. They are original, unique, and very darling. I find that they actually flatter the smallest past of your leg, accentuating its beautiful line. I know how high vamp shoes, shooties and booties can sometimes shorten the leg line by cutting through, however, somehow, these do not; maybe due to the holes, their lace-up design, or again because they have a bit of a heel - in a shape which, btw, is totally "in" right now. No "cankle" ahoy.&nbsp;</p> <p>The flat gladiators give off a very different vibe, so the black ones are not a duplicate. &nbsp;Whereas the black ones are funky chic, the gladiators are definitively bohemian. But that said, they are a statement shoe, and draw attention to one's feet and ankles, and you have to be comfortable with that. If you like them on yourself, wear them proudly. If you're in doubt at all, trust your instinct. They aren't nude, but they aren't bold; the dangling ties look busy. The Freebirds are bold but very structured. The Topshop shoes are interesting and boho to me. Any leg cutting off is mitigated by the heel and the leg lengthening it offers. I say keep. They are edgy enough to suit your fashion sense. The diff to my eye in the two pairs is the straps are uniform on the first pair while in the second there's a lot more visual weight placed on the toe area with the thin ankle straps making it a little off balance visually. They are actually pretty comfortable (a 3" heel is about a max for me). If you order, you may want to size down half a size. </p> <p>They're beautiful sandals, very striking, but I wonder if they're good on *me*. Especially as they're pricey, I want them to be great beyond any doubt. </p> <p>I don't have cankles per se, but it's like the calf starts flaring out almost immediately from the ankle so I wonder if this shoe emphasizes that. </p> <p>I'm also throwing in pics of a Top shop sandal which raises similar concerns. Should I be avoiding laces or a taller shoe that hits at that point. It's like wearing a choker when you have a wide neck. </p> <p>Thanks again for your honest feedback. </p>
