Thanks everyone for chiming in and I guess it's all in the detail, even the pocket detailing (learning about welts vs. no welts). I love the lines at the shoulders, but the arms feel a tiny bit snug for some reason and I'm a tad concerned about the length of the jacket, too.

Overall, it's a beautiful jacket. Vix, your photos are really nice and very helpful. I appreciate you showing me the front and side views along with your stylings. LOL that they've "worn like iron," and great news which makes this a versatile jacket.

I have a couple of Theory jackets from 2007/2008 and have worn them frequently in a variety of work environments -- mine have worn like iron.

IME the weight would be ideal for SoCal/warmer climates and I wear mine with lightweight knit skirts like the one below without feeling a disconnect.

RE FIT:

I love the slim fit through shoulder and arm but depending on how your bra fitting goes you may have to watch for fit through the bust...it's a tad snug on me there when buttoned, but as I'm not in a strict business environment I don't have to button.

My Gabe B is from 2008 and the jacket's hem does angle up (see jeans photo) -- which I like but you may have to watch in terms of where your waistband hits if they are still cutting that way (they do meander with details). Given my body shape I do tend to wear more with skirts so it's not an issue.

I've found it easy to add a little funk with color (and I'm sure you/others could add a lot of funk!) or go more mainstream business by staying with neutrals.

That blue is a great color...depending on what you think you'd pair it with, I'd explore that shade for sure!

Photos 1-2: Gabe B in 2008
Photos 3-4 Still going strong last year -- lining + buttons etc + another frequent, lightweight partner to the jacket these days

Shannon is spot on. I have many Theory items and I love that brand. For my body type, their fit is really good. Here is my Theory suit:

http://youlookfab.com/2011/03/.....d-up-suit/

Here is the jacket with jeans:

http://youlookfab.com/2011/06/.....ral-jeans/

The cut of my jacket is longer and sans the welts. The blazer you posted is worth a look. It's beautiful, and probably runs small so you might need to size up. It's this type of classic jacket that can be interpreted into ANY style.

I think Angie has a Theory suit and speaks highly of it - I assume the jacket would be of excellent quality. I think the style is classic and would go with pretty much everything.

Theory suits and blazers in particular get a lot of love from petite bloggers due to their slim fit and nicely draping fabrics. Unfortunately they never work for me due to my apple. I think this one is a little more cropped and would work on a petite. Did you try it on?

I can't resist touching the Theory jackets when I see them. I look at the lining and the stitching, and hold the fabric in my hand. Really lovely workmanship. I love the graceful lines of the jacket and the sharp, almost retro (in a good bay) line of the lapel. The button stance does seem a little on the high side, but I think that would be fine on your slender torso. Love navy mixed with the colors of the moment -- orange and kelly green!

Oh; that blazer looks beautiful! I do not have experience with this particular one; but it is similar in cut to a blazer I own.

I had to do some *Wacoal* shopping today that I'd been putting off and it didn't end well, because I don't think the SA knew much about sizing. She had me in so many weird sizes and I gave up. So, I'm putting that off for now.

When I left that department, I noticed this Theory Gabe B Blazer in the most wonderful Indigo color (it looks too blue on this link) and I wanted to know if anyone has any experience with this blazer or if it is universal enough to enjoy with jeans and a tee or dressed up with slacks, a skirt, etc. I want something that won't be dated and I liked the lines of this jacket. I think Nordstrom and Theory always carry this jacket, so I'm not in a hurry, but I'd love to hear your thoughts on this or any other comparable jacket with nice, fitted and tailored lines. I also liked this, because it's a light-weight wool and perfect for our California weather. I could see a female Anderson Cooper wearing it! That's a good thing!
