Sounds like a good plan and some smart purchases. Things like tees can be worn during several weight changes too because of the stretchiness.

SF - That's a great question! I'll wait to see whether I have any classes on campus and if not, maybe I'll skip it or maybe I'll get one if I end up wanting to take my laptop and notes anywhere outside my home to work.

MsMaven - I've been waiting for the perfect red and white striped tee for YEARS, so I was pleased as punch to see US had one. They're classic and cheerful.

Shevia - It's so funny to me, because I wore bootcuts when they weren't considered especially fashionable. It's so nice to see something I love trending so I can find it everywhere. I hope they stick around a while.

CarolS - Wishing you the best of luck! I'm happy to compare notes. :)

Joy - YES, I love flannels! I own several, mostly thrifted over the last several years. They're an essential item for me. I also have a thrifted L.L. Bean corduroy shirt that works well over tees (which was snug when I bought it, but fits PERFECTLY now).

Rachylou - Thank you! I'm happy with what I've come up with so far.

Greyscale - Ooh, now I want to wear the black tee with my black jeans and black corduroy shirt. That'd look sharp! Good point about loose fitting shirts lasting through body changes, too.

Staysfit - Thank you for your kind words! I'm looking forward to playing with the new tees and dressing them up for work. I don't have to be on camera most of the time, but even if I'm just dressing for myself, I like to feel put together because it helps me focus.

Suntiger and SF - Y'all crack me up. Sorry for the earworm.

First, congratulations on the renewal of your funding until June. Also, kudos for reaching another stage of your health goal.

I am currently working a hybrid schedule, three days in person, and two remote. I prefer to wear tees and cozy knits when I am working from home. It’s easy to make them look professional enough for a video conference by adding a scarf, necklace, or cardigan, and they are also conveniently comfortable and easy. I think duplicating them makes sense in your situation.

A resolution at any other time of year but 1/1/0000 is a goal. It’s clear that you are a master of setting thoughtful goals and achieving them! :-)

This seems like an excellent plan! A good tee collection makes such an impact. I wear tees almost every day but they were always an afterthought, shopping-wise, until recently. Happily the best tees are not always the expensive ones. I just stocked up on duplicates of two favorites - a nicer BR cropped tee and a $6 H&M basic tee.

I like Joy's idea - an unbuttoned shirt in the same color can look almost like a suit, and very trendy this year, as a bonus. And unbuttoned, oversized shirts will last through several body shape and size changes.

You could extend the use of your tees by buying a couple of flannel, twill or denim shirts to wear open over them like a jacket. I have found that a basic black and white plaid works with almost anything. For even colder days, you could add a hoodie or light jacket or quilted vest on top of everything.
Congratulations on this part of your style journey.

Sounds like a solid plan, Kaelyn. I'm in a similar boat -- taking advantage of the limited need to dress for work to live with a bit less while I plan for the future wardrobe.

I love your tees -- and the addition of boot cuts will add a nice current touch!

Post title referencing Tainted Love, of course. Update on my wardrobe edit while losing weight exploits!

In short, I've decided to focus on wardrobe essentials during this transition. Funding for my public health job has been extended again (until June!) and I found out most classes at the Master's program I'm applying to are online, so I'll be WFH for the foreseeable future. As such, I've decided to keep dressing fairly casually now, but shopping my closet to spruce up my outfits.

My size 16 jeans are still fitting, but loosely, so I'm buying some size 14 ones to have on hand when I need them, and I'm investing in well-fitting and inexpensive tops to get me through this stage of the process. I'm going to get bootcuts (my all-time favorite silhouette) in a couple different colors, and today I purchased a bunch of tees around which I can create outfits. Universal Standard is having a sale, so I got a bunch more of their "tee rex" because I've been loving the teal striped one I got during a promotion. I also got a twisted hem cobalt top from Nordstrom that I may duplicate in red if I like how it looks on me. All items fit into the color palette of my current and aspirational wardrobe.

This should get me through the rest of fall/winter, along with what I already have. I may still shop a little for items I don't need to worry about sizing out of as my body continues to change (accessories!), but I'm feeling pleased with my decision to focus on versatile essentials and feel like what I've gotten already should suffice.

I've moved from trying to imagine the wardrobe I want EVENTUALLY to thinking of purchases as my building a weight loss journey capsule, where maybe they'll work later and maybe they won't, but I need to feel good NOW and there are affordable ways to do that. That means keeping my go-to items fresh and well-fitting and enjoying the ride. :)

I'm also REALLY proud of myself because I have such a hard time investing in wardrobe essentials. That can be my 2022 resolution... I'm just staring a bit early!
