Boucle or tweed fabric like this is usually more synthetic and less wool, I think. <br /></div><div>I made a wool tweed coat that I underlined with flannel (meaning, there is a cotton flannel layer between the outer fabric and the satin lining), and it is cozy. On a ready-made coat, if the bottom of the lining hangs free, you can peek underneath and see if there is any insulation that would help keep the coat more warm and wind-resistant. Typically, they are not and they don't breathe, either, so paradoxically, one can overheat.&nbsp;</p> <p>In my own climate, I might be able to wear a coat like this all year (or almost all year) with the right underlayers. But in a true winter climate? Nope.
