On a more stylish trench note, I wish I DID have a pic of a trench outfit I saw the other day. I only saw it from the back but she was also wearing blue cropped windowpane check slacks, chunky black patent tie brogues and ORANGE ankle socks. It was amazing. Taylor - I just saw your post and you are stunning in your Burberry trenches, no wonder they wanted you to work in store too - you are the perfect advertisement for being casually glamorous in a trench. Anchie - if you wear a trench so often, getting a Burberry makes sense for you. A good coat does give a sense of protection and armour - I love how your trench was able to help you work through a difficult period. Fifthandfinest - my trench is a rather classic style, but the great thing is that trenches come in all shapes, colours and styles. Of course there is no point in buying one if it is not required for your lifestyle. AndiB - with 4 trenches, you are spoilt for choice in this challenge! The key to the fold back of a Burberry is the fact that they are double breasted and have buttons on both sides of the coat. I've been wearing it since April, for the last month without the warm lining, and if this weather ever warms up I'll be taking it off sometime in June. Mine is a classic Colombo style trench coat in taupe, long midi in length. I love that it covers all my skirts and dresses and keeps the rain off my legs. Lately it has felt a bit weird wearing it with cropped pants where the pants hem is below the coat but above the ankle. But not weird enough to opt for a less warm, shorter topper. I am fascinated by this method of wearing it with the front panels buttoned back. How does it work? Does it have to be a Burberry? (Mine is Sears house brand, stalked for a couple of years.) I car commute, and walk moderate distances with an umbrella in light rain and wind, so this works well for me. But I had a similar water resistant "all weather coat" in Cape Town, and I would be drenched through all the layers within minutes during the winter rains. I have... four! Not burberries but 2 class ic dbl breasted to just below knee, a black and a cream plus a black not trench but very modern A line just above knee. That is the one I reach for the most. I lost a navy trench, brushed fleece inside and water repellent. Where oh where did I leave it? I loved that one. Plus a tan single breast that I saw on a blogger and had to have a similar. All in basement save for the favorite modern cut.
