It sounds like you're well on your way to creating that capsule wardrobe that will be so great for business trips. Keep up the good (hard) work. Here's some inspiration:

Love hearing about your journey. Kuddos to you for putting in all the work both before and after the appointment.
Would love to see some pics when you're ready. I need a very basic course in this and would love to see how things develop.

Oh yes its hard work rather than random pleasure with pictures, colours etc I don't quite feel ready to post any pictures, when I start getting something really special happening. But already I am feeling much better about what I have and am doing... which is of course fun as well...

I'd encourage you just to focus on moving forward -- one step at a time. There's no deadline or penalty for not filling the book in a few weeks. You're already far better off that you were before!

I've been trying to take photos, as well, and I do best when I spend an hour every few weeks playing with new options in my closet. It is paying off in looking better, spending more efficiently and actually getting dressed more quickly. I've got a ways to go yet!

Oh --- and most importantly --- Don't forget to have fun with fashion!

Phewwww, I am tired just "listening". Who would think that it would take this much work. It must be especially hard when you have to fit this in with everything else that you have to do. But you sound as if you are well on your way..and more importantly, you recognize the way forward.

It sounds as if you've had a really productive time with the stylist, Jen. At the end of this, at minimum, you'll have capsules you can work with and you will feel prepared for different occasions; after that you can tweak at will to your evolving style. Great work!

Thanks for sharing! I know it's a lot of work, but it inspires me to do more planning of outfits instead of just deciding while I'm in the shower. I love hearing about your homework and hope you'll post some pictures!

Nearly a week out from getting the stylist in and I am feeling like I have SOOO much work to do. I was left with the task of making up a look book so I can identify outfits at a glance through, making it easy to pack for trips and getting over the nothing to wear/constant shopping woe. Ok, have folder and plastic sleeves, have most of the categories set up AND NOTHING ELSE... So the few WIWs are in there but its a mighty thin lot of folder content. I have set my task of identifying 2 or 3 outfits everytime I get dressed and quickly trying them on and getting a quick photo to put in. I hope this will help fill in some of the categories. I am also going away for a week next week so I am madly rushing to make 5 days of smart casual, about 3 casual evening outfits and in transit outfits so hope this fast forwards filling a category or two of the look book.
The good news is and an interesting insight is finding the HOLES amongst all the stuff at my place... and how already some are being filled in. The stylist pointed out I needed better fit in my basics, look for variations in the types of outfits and to use my accessories to shooz up even my basic. sFor example, now that I have been to the cobbler, I have a black casual shoe and bag combo that easily goes with many of the outfits I am making up. I have my first ligher coloured casual bag and now I have a bunch of shoe/bag combos that will work in the day. In my packing I have long pants, shorts, skirt and a dress - some of these pieces we bought shopping in the session. So I feel like with out 12 garments 2 sandals and 2 bags that I am good to go! My shopping list of things to fill in holes and complete combos continues to grow but guess that is better than randlomly shopping for more stuff. Wow, its been much harder work than I thought but I am pleased with how it is going! Thanks for listening!
