I am definitely a member of Angie’s Stripe Queen Pack!
I always have a variety of striped tee shirts, turtlenecks, and sweaters in my closet. I enjoy stripes in many colors (always combined with white). Colors include white with black, navy, red, yellow, and light blue. Stripes are my favorite pattern!

I do not have any striped tees. I had one in the 80s and two in the 70s. Currently, I have a striped blazer that is probably 18 years old in my wardrobe.

Yes! It I need to add some sweater versions. I have sleeveless to long sleeved tees in a variety of colors but most are black and white or navy and white. The widest stripes are on a sleeveless version. The narrowest stripes are on a two piece dress. I can’t tell if it is black and white or navy and white.

I have yet to get sick of them!

In keeping with my old school geek-chic prep thing, most of the stripes in my wardrobe are B&W or white and blue, but I am open to stripes of every...wait for it.... stripe.

More stripes here! I even have them in lingerie and pj form.

They are still a very strong staple for me, and I love the way the dress down a blazer, which is how I wear them most, but I do have to say that I am wearing blazers less at the current moment, and find I reach for chambray button downs more often.

This collection of finds does make me realize that it's time to prune some of the older versions from the closet, since they are not all pristine (bagged out or worn) and I've cycled in plenty of new ones recently. I am more picky about the state of my tees and knits than I used to be.

There are a few Queens of Stripes! Loved seeing the variety and hearing the opinions. Quite varied. I can see that stripes are harder for some people- and a very easy addition for others.

I have at least half a dozen. I find the wide stripes unflattering, but a high contrast narrow stripe to be the opposite. Mostly Boden
or J. Crew. They are workhorses!

Only sometimes Sally. Not a fave pattern of mine but usually have one. For years it was a cobalt and white striped tank bought very cheap in KMart Australia for maybe $8? 2011? Edited out about 2 years ago.
Funnily enough my opposite number (the other grandmother of baby, mother of my son-in-law), who lives in Vietnam, sent a black and white striped tank as a gift for “Tet” ( Vietnamese New Year) so I have another! I am wearing it in my profile pic.
I am definitely no Queen of stripes.

I love striped shirts! I only have three right now. A st james white with black stripes that I've had for a very long time...had to mend some holes in it. A white with navy stripe colab st james with j crew with a dropped shoulder that's great for under sweaters because the sleeves are tighter and a new one last year from Jcrew thats taupe with navy stripes that is a bit of an orphan. It just doesn't fit quite right or it's too heavy a fabric.

I also have a lifelong love affair with stripes of many colours and widths. But currently I am picky about which ones I wear, preferring lower contrast, so classic black or navy and white are out - for now.
I have two tees currently, one is thrifted brown and cream and I plan to pattern-mix it with this new oversized check blazer asap (currently laying low with a cold so my planned office day outfits aren’t getting worn!). The other one is shown and I love it because it’s *creamy* white and *heathered* grey. The find I own and I think it counts because it’s tee shirt dress The couch is one I admire from the TV show Only Murders in the Building - I have a chair I will be getting recovered and this may act as inspo. Finally, one of my all-time favourite fashion combos is a classic black and white striped tee or dress and classic Cons with the black-on-white ‘stripes’ on the sole and toe!

I kind of come and go with stripes. I find them versatile for mixing but then I'll go years without any. Right now I have a few basic striped tees and a thin striped sweater that I love so much it is getting ratty :(

I am joining the kkards and Inge lineup, in competition for biggest addict ever!

Funny you should ask, though, because my beloved old boatneck mariner from LL Bean is toast (I wore it for a decade, so...you know...) and they don't seem to be making them. So. I need to find a replacement. It's not going to be easy, believe it or not -- that sweater had just the right weight and heft to work as a top in cool weather (and layer over) or as a summer sweater over a sleeveless top.

Anyway...the current stripe lineup. As you can see, I like them in various cuts and weights and wear across all seasons. For me, they are essentials in navy and white (light or dark background) and an excellent addition in other colours.

No, I can’t say I love them , need them or wear them . Every few years I think I SHOULD have one or two because they are “ so essential “ , so I currently have three in my closet ( 2 long sleeve , 1 short sleeve ) but honestly never wear them . Not sure what it is ……but I can live without them , that’s for sure .

I'm not a fan of tee shirts in general but am most likely to wear a striped one. Stripes in shirts seem to have more staying power in my wardrobe than other prints, except leopard prtints. Striped shirts still tend to work well in all sleeve lengths and would welcome more in more colors, like brown or yellow or coral. I do not have much in the way of striped tops for cold weather.

Yes. As I mentioned in my recent WIW, I took a stripe break during the Zoom-intensive period of the pandemic because stripes can be dizzying on camera. I missed wearing them. I am not much of a pattern person, and stripes help break up my constant solid neutrals.
My best fitting striped long sleeved t's have come from BR and Gap. I cannot wear the Boden tops, the arms and shoulders are too tight, and the shirts are long for me.

Yes in the past , always, but I have been almost completely off this year and thinking it unlikely that I will ever wear them with the frequency I once did.

I think I may have just used up the appeal by over wearing, as I did with denim, and I agree that the most classic versions just seem played out, although I have seen that some people, like Suz, continue to make them look fresh with styling.

I like them, though it's been something I've grown into the last few years. They are helpful for pairing two colors without colorblocking (jeans/skirt and shirt) and for tying in a topper with a solid (skirt and cardigan). I'm super picky about the colors (white background only please) but I've got a helpful selection now.

- Medium stripes preferred; not so small that it goes muddy, and not so large that it looks chunky. Different patterns are fun, like the Lands' End ones with different size stripes on the sleeves. They have a different knit neck band as well.
- Most are high contrast (navy, rust, red) but the pale pink has a good niche to lighten up darker winter outfits.
- Mine are all colors. I scarcely wear any neutrals if I can help it, except for white.

I’m a total fan, I am drawn to them like a moth is to a flame. It’s such a classic and they are offered in so many versions and colours.
Although bretons can look preppy and nautical, I just enjoy how stripes can easily bring my outfits together.

LOL kkards!

I like them but don’t buy too many anymore. Horizontal stripes are not always my best friend, flattery-wise. I do have three long-sleeved striped tees/tops (one more properly a sweater) in black and white variations. Two have a V-neck, one crew. The CdG tee and metallic stripe one are in Finds below.

I used to have a couple of more proper Breton styles, but wore them out over time and they also got a little too snug. I think they were both from BR and had boat necks, which can work for me, if the fit is not snug.

My preference in stripes is more for fluid fits and unusual or sporty touches like this blue sweater, or color combos like the blue/green/grey stripe sweater here. I like the play of a large stripe with smaller ones, if the stripe lands in the right place for flattery, which is a big question mark on a busty figure. I think medium stripes tend to work best on me, but if I see an interesting item in terms of color or style, I’d try it even with very thin or very thick stripes.

They're ok on others, but don't feel authentic on me. I prefer curvy patterns where the colors blend into each other and feel organic.

To answer your question, not that much- anymore. I love stripes, and I used to have and love a striped tee but with time passing became more attracted to stripes on other clothing items, like pants, skirts, dresses or even some blazers/jackets-which I now preffer much more over a stripe tee.

KKards LOL, you are too funny!

Occasionally I will add stripes in my wardrobe, but don't have any at the moment. I always think they are nautical and wore them when my son was younger and we went on beach holidays. I have a beach coverup dress that is striped and a sweater with stripes, it reminds me of a liquorice allsort lolly.
