Hi. Are there any issues with altering the sleeves? There are button holes and I thought that might be a problem. Trying to decide between keeping and returning a Smythe blazer myself.

I would try the next size down before giving up. There is some rumpling on the sides of the bust, which may indicate extra material.

I wasn't sure what to think about the cutout, but now that I see it IRL, I like it!

It is difficult when you can't try-on a couple of sizes at once, and I understand with a HEWI that you want it to be perfect!
If you really love it and the idea of it, I would recommend trying a size down too.

Hmmm. I like this a lot, but the fit seems a little off. Smythe seems to be really tricky! It seems a little long on you, and it might be a little roomy in the shoulder, but I don't think it looks big through the body. I'm not so sure a size down will be the answer, but it may be worth a try.

Beautiful jacket though.

Gosh, I like this so much better on you them the model. Some how on her the front looked boring and traditional and out of kilter with the back. On you, it seems flow better. Anyway, I like the way this fits but it's hard to tell from a picture. If it feels to big, definitely try the size down.

It looks a size big too me. I am not sure about the length. IMHO it looks a bit overwhelming. The jacket is beautiful and the colour is gorgeous on you. I would shop around. There are more Smthye jackets coming. I have been waiting 10 years!

Try a size down if Saks has it. (That's where you got it, right?) But I like this length. Blazers are running longer now overall. This one is meant to be this long, I suspect. Sleeve alteration should not be too difficult if there are no buttons on the sleeves.

This jacket looks lovely on you but I'm with HJ....a size down will solve your sleeve length problem and it may sit better on your shoulders. There seems to be a slight gape across the upper back too. Personally, I think this style of jacket looks best when worn open which means you can afford to err on the smaller side. It's a lovely classic jacket and it certainly doesn't look cheap, so it would be worth getting the right fit.

I am not really that crazy about the cut on the back either. I think it draws the eye to the wearer's derriere.

Beth - does Nordstrom not offer free tailoring on things at this price point? I too wear a 4/6 in a jacket, and my Smythe blazer is an 8. Not sure sleeve length is going to be that different on a size down - the difference would typically be in the chest/shoulder area, right? I know the boutique I bought mine at offers free tailoring (within reason) on things like this - and Nord, being known for their great customer service, maybe does too!

I LOVE the jacket on you, and don't think the front length is off at a all.

I actually prefer the length on you to the length on the model. I bet the store can give you sleeve length on the next size down. You only need 1-1.5" shorter. Amazing blazer. Hope you keep trying.

Try a size down. When I got mine I ordered a 4 and a 6 because everything I read suggested it ran small and the 4 was the clear winner (I'm normally a 2 or 4 depending on brand). It looks great on you so hopefully sizing down will do the trick!

Sveta, the more I think about it, the more I think sizing down might be an option. Hm. It sounds as though both you and Neel like the body length, which is growing on me.

I really love this on you!! Such a stunning jacket and the color is beautiful on you. I agree that the sleeves are long but I don't think the jacket is too long in the front though and it fits beautifully everywhere else. But I am not really a fit expert ... Hopefully someone with more knowledge will chime in.

...alas, it's a pass. The quality, as expected, is beautiful, and the sizing is comparable to the NAS equestrian version with a very slight bit of extra room. I usually wear a 4/6 in jackets and this is an 8.

It's long, though. I think the length looks fine from the back (such a cool cut-out), but it feels and looks to my eyes slightly too long from the front, and the sleeves are definitely too long. Even on sale, it's too expensive to have the additional cost of having the sleeves shortened. This needed to be a 10/10 to keep.

*sigh* I reeaally wanted it to work out, but unless you guys see something different, it's going back.
