Hm, wish the NF Stella Grace was still around in its green color in my size. There is a similar one out by Patagonia, but it is 3-4 inches shorter. I don't think I want black, white or beige. :T

Suz, I'm happy I'm not boring everyone to tears. I feel bad because I *just* had a trench saga last year! Who knew I wouldn't be able to handle a polyester lining? Bah!

I am loving this saga.

Glad you are sending the moss green one back. Quite apart from not liking the colour as much, the sleeves are just stupid.

Ah, that is beautiful, Una! It doesn't say anything about breathability, though... I'm trying to be a stickler about that, since it was the main catalyst for the new trench hunt.

Well, that is that! The Spiewak goes back and the Nau is the current reigning champ. I just ordered this one to try from Timberland, but I suspect it will be too heavy. Reviews of other garments have also commonly stated that the colors online look nothing like real life, so I'm not holding my breath. But I had a 20% off code and free 2-day shipping, so no harm in trying.

Mia, I SO hear you. I wish we could add on features like with a car.... hold the down filling/power windows, but can I get a wicking liner/sunroof?

Love the price but it is not doing much for you. NAU is much more better except in the slightly too long looking dept. I find it so frustrating when I find aspects I want in 3 different garments but not one that does it all.

Ooh, interesting. DH said the only better thing about this one is the color. I added a flash-less pic above for comparison.

Hm, I do agree that this is the least versatile, I think. Even though the Nau is more gear-ish than the classic trench style, it seems more dressy than the anorak because it is long and could protect the hems of shorter dresses. And yes, wet knees are just as irritating as wet, soggy bootcut hems!

Hmm in the photos the color of the jacket stands away from you (if that makes sense) but if I picture the color as you describe it seems like it'd work on you. So, not too sure on the color. The style looks the most gearish (the sheen probably adds to that), but is decently cute for gear that's obviously gear. As far as being useful at keeping rain off of you, I prefer the longer length of the Nau (I haaaate having wet knees!). Because it's so casual it's definitely the least versatile of the lot. I think I prefer the Nau!

(Love the choppy hair today!!)

So, this Spiewak Moss green anorak is a couple inches shorter than even the North Face trench was. It also has a mesh lining instead of the wicking fleece, NO secure pockets, and strangely open parts in the sleeves (#3). However, it *does* have a hood, is just as lightweight, and it was only $40. Breathability is being tested, not sure yet.

How is this color on me? It is about the color of the green olives one gets in the jar with pimento, just a bit lighter. I can't quite tell if it washes me out like a pastel or if the sheen brightens me up. Also, any thoughts on the style overall? It is much less dressy than either coat I've tried so far.
