Sometimes it feels like the trends change so quickly, they’re almost meaningless! So if wide legs go “out” of style, I’ll keep wearing them as part of my signature style, and before long I’ll look like I’m on the cutting edge again, LOL. </p> <p>I spent a little time on my old college campus this weekend, and a week ago was on the Cornell campus, and I see lots of wide, baggy, and oversized pants on the students. Some leggings too, but not as many as a few years ago. I certainly don’t need to be wearing what the kids are wearing, but it’s always interesting to see. I see a few skinny jeans in the wild on women of any age in my area, and a lot of them are on people who never gave them up to begin with — they never lost popularity with my shorter friends who struggle with the combination of width + length in wider pant leg styles and find skinny cuts easier to fit. They all wear only black jackets in winter too. The youngsters are not. They are wearing baggy jeans and loose toppers and light colours. The female war refugees from Ukraine all wear wide legs and light colours. You can see at a glance who is local and who is not. I may have a rep here for being a cheerleader for skinny jeans. This is not really accurate. I love straight jeans. I have never worn low-rise skinnies as they do not work on my body shape. I have a few skinnies with a higher rise but they have not fitted for five years. Well they fit now and I don't love them. There I said it. For all the same reasons some of you said; too restrictive, look dated, uncomfortable. High Five to all of you who feel this way, I'm now on your team. No barrels for me yet but Team Looser Jeans going forward. </p>
