OK! the package came. The Maggie Ottoman Midi Skirt in US size 4 fit great! I'm so happy, because this is the one I wanted most.

The Ponte Pencil Skirt in size 4 was not so good. WAAAAY too tight. It's stretchy enough, that I could squeeze into it, but..no thanks. So I should go up to at least a 6, and I'm even thinking an 8 in that.

The dress (Maggie Ottoman Dress) in THIS package (another dress is backordered) Fit great in my regular US size 4. But the design is looser (like a circle skirt?) on the bottom, so there's a ton more wiggle room. Trouble with it is, the fabric was TOO heavy and textured. I felt huge in it. It almost felt like the dress was wearing me. So, it's going back.

I guess my takeaway with Boden would be: If it's fit and flare.. go with your true size. If it's body hugging AT ALL in the photos, go up at least one size. If it's very Bod-Con (pencil skirt).. go up two sizes.

You all have been so kind to give your two-cents. Thank you!!

Their returns process is very easy. I like a lot of Boden stuff because it's different from other online retailers. However, I am definitely not their fit model so I always assume a return could happen. I think they have a more narrow shouldered, well endowed woman in mind.

I haven't ordered a dress, so I'm no help there, but returns have been no problem. They send a return slip and sticker with the order.

I bought a poncho from them last fall, so no insights as to size, but now I'm on their mailing list. I got a catalog the other day and it was 240 pages. I'm not kidding.

I've never had any problems doing exchanges with Boden. IIRC, they have an online chat option, so if you wanted them to change up your back ordered item, that might be a good option. (Honestly, I usually just order both sizes if I'm unsure, and return the one that didn't work, since they usually offer free shipping above some amount.)

I do read the reviews for the specific item I'm ordering to see what is said about that particular item in comparison to Boden sizing in general or if some helpful person gives their measurements to compare to. Are you looking at the actual chart for the garment you ordered? Not just the general size chart. For instance, I have this dress (well the previous version of it) in a 6L. I must have read something in the reviews to make me order a 6 rather than an 8.

Thanks! According to the measurement guide, I'd be a 6R. But then, I read the reviews on-line and people are saying they run big. So, I was confused.

I find the garment measurements given on the Boden site to be extremely helpful in deciding whether to buy a US 6 or 8. I have some of each from Boden. If it helps, I'm 5'7" 150 lbs. My measurements are something like 36.5, 29, 40 with 42" shoulders. If you consult the garment measurements, keep in mind whether the fabric is stretchy or not.

Hey! I know this is a subject that's been covered here a lot. But, I'm finally making my first Boden purchase. I'm usually a size 4 in U.S. dresses, and between a 4 and a 6 in pants.

I ordered two dresses from Boden. I went with the 4 regular. Now I'm afraid they'll be too small. ugh.

I'm 5'7" and 130lbs..

The dresses are a heavy, textured fabric and are completely lined.. It think that will help.

If my dresses are too small, does Boden make exchanging them for a size up easy? Or, would there be any way to get them to change a size that is on backorder?

Thanks for any help you can give me!
