I feel confident about wearing skinnies once again! </p> <p>I thought about this a lot on my evening walk and finally figured out why I went 'off' skinnies last year. This happened around the same time I started wearing a lot of knit tops, or woven tops with welted/elasticated hems. Skinnies need a longer, drapey top for the proportions to look just right. LisaP's words *long over lean* come to mind. Shorter tops create an unflattering horizontal line that makes me look short and square with fitted skinnies. On the other hand, the same shorter tops look far better with bootcut jeans as that creates a more balanced look. </p> <p>I'm going to rediscover old favourites in the coming weeks - pretty woven tops and skinnies. I'm excited about this!!! (And secretly so happy that all of it exists in my wardrobe already! Besides a couple of times when I wore them with tall boots, I told myself I looked short &amp; squat in skinnies and have been favoring straight leg jeans and bootcut jeans over them. </p> <p>Today I decided to try a few pairs (I have several; my jeans hardly ever wear out and I've been the same size the last 5yrs Atleast). </p> <p>I kept the top and shoes same for easy comparison. I thought I'd check the fit and length, pick a couple I like best and donate the rest. </p> <p>I'm surprised to report that I can't seem to find a single thing wrong with these jeans! Why haven't I been wearing them? </p> <p>I then wore a pair of straight leg jeans (#6) and thought I actually preferred skinnies! I guess it's just a style shift again???? I finally decided on #7 - that's what I'm wearing today. </p> <p>Have I ridiculously been avoiding a style that actually flatters my body and is perfect for my casual lifestyle? I'd love to hear your thoughts on the same. </p>
