Watched again just recently (streaming on netflix) and paid a lot of attention to Grace Coddington this time. She has had a fabulous career history and although Anna is the "public face" of Vogue, Grace is sort of the behind the scenes diviner of what the magazine so artfully shows.
Vogue is one of the few magazines I read - and I will never buy couture in my lifetime (unless somethings drastically change lol) I find it keeps my eye in tune to new shapes and colors. I also really enjoy the writing (although the film does not address written content much).
The night I watched this, I watched The Devil Wears Prada first. Great contrast

How fun that you posted a review, F. I added the documentary to our bookstore a while back, and really enjoyed the look behind the scenes of such an influential fashion magazine. The creative process, business meetings, the way editors, designers, photographers and other staff members interact with each other, it's something we don't get to see every day. I always find that fascinating. Oh, and I also loved Grace Coddington, the strong-minded creative director at Vogue.

I checked that DVD out from the library some time ago. I was really surprised by how involved the making of the magazine is, and I was so impressed with Anna Wintour.

The dvd is about the making/production of the September 2007 issue of Vogue magazine. I have to say I have a different view on fashion due to it. Who knew that the magazine Vogue had such input into what really shows up on the runway or retail stores!?

I found it fascinating as when I go shopping I tend to think in reality of fit, will it fit into my wardrobe, etc. and really gave no thought to the creative process.

Vera Wang was very interesting being old school and some of the new designers were fascinating as I tend to forget how stressful their job actually is.

The actual fashions were of course old but the messages in the dvd held their universal appeal.
