I really enjoyed this movie too, even though I think it didn't get such great reviews. I also really admire Anna Wintour's style. I saw it last winter and I didn't think too much about the relevance of the style to what is available now. Interesting point. I certainly do have the feeling that when I buy a designer (small time) dress in season in a novel style, I don't see the copies of it cropping up in cheaper versions for at least a year or more. For example I have this navy blue dress in a slightly utilitarian, let's say old-school stewardess style that I have posted a couple of times. It was DVF from about 5 years ago, but now you could buy a copy anywhere. At the time that I bought it, it was really something different. I still love it because it is also somehow a classic and beautifully cut.

Saw it in teh theatre, loved it! like Marley, i came out loving Grace Coddington. i've admired her styling for decades, and appreciate it even more seeing how much wheer WORK she has to do and how she fights for her aesthetic decisions. i squealed with delight when she vetoed Anna Wintour's order to 'slim down' the cameraman's gut in the spread - a true artist!

i really appreciated Grace Coddington's story, as well. i got in a bad car accident when i was 20, and spent most of a year with a very beat-up face and/or a very obvious 5 1/2" long scar on my forehead. people don't react well, and it's a shock if you used to be considered 'good-looking'. at the same time, it's an opportunity to focus on more interesting, long-lasting parts of life, which Ms. Coddington has done so well. steph

I rented that one a couple of years ago....fascinating look at the inside workings of Vogue! I know Anna Wintour has a snarly reputation, but I thought she came off as a rather sympathetic (though tough) character in the movie. It was so interesting to learn that her father basically "chose" her career for her!

I saw it when it was in the movie theaters and then bought the DVD when it came out. I (obviously) LOVED it - I could watch it over and over again. My hero is Grace Coddington - love her - what a genius!

Has anybody seen this documentary about Anna Wintour and the gang at "Vogue?" I watched it over the weekend and loved it! So interesting, so fun, the clothes were so fab!

One thing that really struck me was that the movie was made in the summer and fall of 2007, but all the clothes were the ones we are all wearing right now -- there was a big colorblocking spread in the issue (September 2007),. there's a scene in which Anna wears a beautiful cream-and-navy Breton striped sweater, and the dresses and skirts and amazing little jackets she wore looked utterly current. I guess it really does take 3-4 years for fashion to get from the pages of "Vogue" to the stores and the streets.

And remember the thread about "do you have a celebrity style doppleganger?" Well, I don't, but I am totally an Anna Wintour wannabe! I would wear every. single. thing. she wears in that movie!!

Did you see it? Your thoughts?
