My work is instantly recognizable to other students, be it ink, paint or print. I used to follow the blog of Jodi Green, a textile and print artist, and several years ago she did a project where for a year (I think) she exclusively wore dresses that she had made herself. But the kicker was that every time she wore one of the dresses she would modify it in some way, usually by printing over it. It's kind of a twist on the uniform project idea, every outfit in the year ends up different but still based on the same uniform. Anyway, I thought you might find it interesting. You make a good point about how a lack of interest in current trends is easy on the pocketbook!</p> <p>I'm doing a degree in illustration, but this semester I'm taking a letterpress printing class, which is why I'm in the print lab a lot. I can normally draw with ink without spilling it (barring a few memorable accidents), but printing ink is another beast. It's oil-based, sticky, and coats the many rollers on the press. And since the printing process inevitably involves lots of fiddling with the machine, you always get ink on yourself. I often don't notice I've put my elbow in the ink until I've transferred it to my face, my pants and any surrounding furniture. </p> <p>ETA Hi Diana! To answer your question, yes, it's true that pretty much anything goes at art school. But you also see a lot of the most current silhouettes that are out there. High waists are definitely the most popular at the moment. :-(</p>
