Have you tried NY&Co?
This cream color on their website is pretty summery looking and wouldn't be hard to alter. THey always have tons of coupons floating around the internet.

http://www.nyandcompany.com/ny.....Acat570002

I saw a bold black and white print on the site too but might be too much pattern.

I found it snooping around on the internet. I wonder if there are some key words to do a search to find cute little boutiques like that. I also was impressed with it, except for all of the sale items seem to be gone already. It is good for studying styles though.

There are some plaid or houndstooth skirts that are on sale here at this new site I found. They say thay are out of stock but maybe you will have luck calling them. Good luck. They look like nice skirts. I was dissappointed to find they are still on the website but when I put one in the shopping cart it said out of stock. I hope to call and find one. I have heard that they are very nice fabric with some stretch and a nice kick pleat or 2 in back. Good luck.

I went to Express today and as expected, the skirts were way too long. The fluted one was gorgeous but it would have been a really complicated alteration to shorten it and maintain the shape, and since I do not have a good tailor anymore, I try to avoid anything besides very basic alterations. Besides that, I really felt that those skirts would look much better with heels.

I stopped at Express, Ann Taylor, J Crew, H&M, and Lord and Taylor. The Macys at this particular mall isn't all that great. For some reason, the skirt selection this season is miserable. Way too casual and boho, or just plain boring. I'm wondering if I should hold out for NAS, but that is all going to be autumn stuff isn't it? I am looking for a skirt specifically in a lighter, cooler fabric and preferably without a lining. I'm not even sure if a NAS sale will knock down the prices enough for me.

I tried on the H&M jacket with a flower pin, Swanns, and my Club Monaco pants and it was pretty sharp. If I can just find a great funky skirt I think I'm set for any unexpected calls that come my way. So do I wait for NAS? Are there any other stores I should check out that I might have missed?
