Judy, I was JUST reading that like maybe an hour before you posted about it. I'm relieved to see Sart at least has a good reason for not having a lot of diversity (in terms of age and size) on his blog, and he isn't actively disqualifying bigger or older women. I have resented him for a while because of that and now I feel like I can look at his blog without cringing again.

As for Lizzie, I loved that picture. I won't lie: My eye has just been trained to see flabby bellies in an unflattering light, so I don't think it looks good...but like I said, it's just the way I have been conditioned, and has nothing to do with whether or not it is genuinely unattractive. But it makes me feel relieved to see someone who looks like ME. She is a couple of sizes bigger than I am, but basically does look like I do (though I probably have bigger boobs).

I think the model is only 20, so yes, most of us have more of a belly than she has! She is gorgeous!

I know some of us take a look at The Sartorialist blog from time to time. And we've had our compliments but also, complaints, with regard to his photos...particularly around the issue of his subjects being too young or too thin, and not representing all of us.

So his post of August 29th, ( I can't link directly to that post, but it's the one with this picture from Glamour magazine:
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_qjpw.....amNYP1.jpg )

was particularly interesting because he says :

"When I am shooting on the street older women and larger size women often say "no" to my request to shoot them. Actually, much more than any other category of people I shoot. I think they have a real suspicion about how the image will be used. I also think there continues to be a growing disconnect between the fashion community and "average" women in general."

Here's the link to the main page:
http://thesartorialist.blogspot.com/

But now to the picture. It's gotten so much buzz. What do we think of it here? Maybe you've been talking about it and I missed it?

I don't always get the nude shots done in fashion magazines but if there are going to be nudes, it's great to see a body that looks beautiful and a bit more natural than some of the emaciated ones we often see. Though, most of us have much more belly than this, don't we? In that way the attention it's getting is refreshing and yet humorous at the same time!
