It shows that you have gone a size up, but this is more to hide your hips (as you say), not because the dress would actually be too small in the right size?? It's not tight or anything but maybe not as sacklike in the bottom half as it is on the model. Size up would be too big on top (this is already sized up to accommodate my hips).
